Chef Vera is a true professional!! From start to finish she ensured our party was a success. She is personable, sweet, efficient, and extremely detail oriented. She is a highly talented chef who prepared a delicious meal for me and my husband, and our 20 guests. Needless to say, it was a huge undertaking and she created amazing, beautifully prepared food. We absolutely loved having Chef Vera and Jerry in our home to prepare a multi-course sit-down meal for our Labor Day gathering. Its the first time that we could actually have a party then sit back, relax with our guests and utterly enjoy what became a joy-filled magical evening. The food choices and presentations were wonderful and the wine pairing was perfect. I gave a few dietary requirements for our guests and Chef did the rest! I highly recommend Chef Vera for events, dinners, appetizer parties or daily personal chef services! We are already thinking ahead to do a Christmas party so we can have Chef Vera back! Besides the service and quality, Chef Vera is a lovely person inside and out and a pleasure to work with. Very accomodating and kind. - What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I always study the newest trends in diets and nutrition to stay on top of the latest trends. I also have to study a specific diets when I have clients who must follow that kind of diet. I am constantly creating new recipes and testing new flavors, so I can offer a large variety of culinary experience to my clients. When needed, I have a respectable nutritionist on hand to either ask questions, or recommend my clients to her so together we can come up with a highly customized, specialized plan, if applicable.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I used to run a restaurant back in Europe. It's a hard work. I enjoyed it but when I came to U.S.A., I landed a job as a wine representative for a fine wine wholesaler, tasting and learning about the best wines from all over the world. I truly loved it until my third back surgery interrupted my "fun ride". Ever since, I had medical issues and live in pain. Paradoxically, I'm not in pain while standing and walking around. So I came back to cooking and being personal chef gives me enough flexibility to take on as much work, as I can physically manage. And to take it easy, when my condition worsen. I also enjoy not cooking the same meals over and over again, like you do in the restaurant. I get to work in the most beautiful kitchens. The experience with finest wines of the world comes handy since now I can use it while pairing wines with my food. It's the cherry on top of the cake for me.
- What types of customers have you worked with?Weekly or bi-weekly fresh dinners cooked for a family of two or four (menu that is partially consumed and partially frozen to enjoy later). My clients then have single portions of their favorite meals on hand whenever they need them. I have a clients with specialized diets and work with nutritionist to help them achieve the best results they aim for. - A special parties with appetizers, entrees and desserts - A professional athletes with specialized diets, looking to eat healthy, with emphases on their performance on the field, and weight goals - A private wine dinners with food and wine pairing - A romantic dinners for two with customized menu
