Introduction: I am an experienced Tutor (10+ years) specializing in SAT and ACT, General and Organic Chemistry, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Geometry, and English. Parents often hire me to help students with a combination of services like SAT and ACT test prep for college entrance and scholarship award, homework assistance, and overall grade/GPA improvement. I also provide College Admissions Consulting services to help families strategically plan, in advance, their child’s college entrance. Families often hire me to follow their child through the academic school year to help the student overcome any academic challenges they have in their coursework to maintain their GPA and prepare them for College Entrance Exams (SAT and ACT). I pride myself in the work I do. In addition to helping the student with their immediate needs (homework help, SAT or ACT prep, class test prep, etc), my goal is to always help the student improve their critical thinking skills and problem solving skills, which is a lifelong asset. I not only teach the student to learn the material, but I teach them how to think critically so they improve their overall academic performance. I am very flexible and I maintain an open door policy where the student can contact me at any time for assistance. Additionally, I think of myself as a boutique tutor, meaning that I tutor a certain number of students at a time, so that the quality of my teaching is not compromised. **SAT and ACT Test Prep** Standardized test prep is my niche because it is an extremely results oriented subject to teach. Student score increase is a spectrum based on a combination of factors like how long I tutor the student, if the student is completing all of the exercises and following my recommendations, ongoing and uninterrupted sessions until the score is completed, and more. I've helped numerous of students qualify for state sponsored scholarships to pay for their college tuition. The scholarships earn back the money the parents have invested for tutoring sessions. The goal for every SAT or ACT test prep student is to reach a score that meets their state sponsored college scholarship, unless the student is aiming for an Ivy League (which I have helped accomplish). --------------------------------------------------------- As a former student, I graduated Cum Laude from the Honors College at Florida International University. Then, I received a scholarship to study Global Health at Boston University where I was the VP of the student body, a Teaching Assistant in the Global Health department’s Mixed Methods Applied Research course, and I obtained a certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Digital Health and Technology. Moreover, I spent two years working on Chronic Kidney Disease research on behalf of the Department of Epidemiology at Boston University. After graduating from Boston University, I worked as a research associate for two years developing population health strategies in the areas of HIV, health care access, and quality improvement for a management consulting firm. I also have data programming, statistics, and other math skills required for research and development. ------------------------------------------------------------ Subjects I tutor: *General Chemistry I and II *Organic Chemistry I and II *SAT Test Preparation *ACT Test Preparation *Reading Comprehension *English and Writing *Algebra (Pre, 1, 2) *Geometry

Science Tutoring

My teen was in need of support with High School Chemistry and Ms. Levy has been great! She explains concepts in a relatable manner, and she’s consistent in her support. Chemistry was like a “new language” to my son. Since he started tutoring, he’s been thriving!

Test Prep Services

I was pleasantly impressed with her professionalism and definitely appreciative of her patience as we needed to go over things repeatedly. This was not a reflection on her teaching ability by any means. I’ve been out of school for 32 years and just found out last week, I have to take The Act Exam for a position where I’m currently employed. So, as I’m freaking out about everything I’ll need to know, but have forgotten. She was calm and reassuring that with her knowledge of the exam, style of tutoring and encouragement, I’ll do just fine. I know I have a lot of work yet to do, but I believe her. Just breathe, don’t over complicate and she’ll give you the skills and encouragement you need to succeed. This was our first session, I’m looking forward to our next one.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge an hourly rate. I switched to virtual tutoring because of the pandemic, but stayed virtual because of the extreme positive feedback and preference I received from my students. The advertised price is the hourly rate for virtual tutoring or if the student travels to my location. In person tutoring is priced differently depending on how far the student lives.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Prior to an initial lesson, I recommend scheduling an initial call to discuss the academic goals for the student and my tutoring strategies to determine if we are a positive fit. Then, as I start working with the student, I will take note of their current performance compared to the goal so I can provide realistic and accurate feedback to the family. Then, as the sessions progress, I tailor the lessons to meet the student's needs. It is important that families are patient and recognize that for me to provide critical feedback, I need to work with the student for a few weeks, so I can fully analyze the student's current performance compared to what is required of them to reach their goal.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated Cum Laude from undergrad and gained a scholarship to Boston University where I obtained a masters degree from Boston University. I have a pre-med degree (Biology I and II, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology, Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Microbiology, Physics I and II), a pre-law degree, and I took graduate level math, law, applied research, and writing courses. I have 10+years of tutoring experience working with students from middle school to the college level.
