Introduction: I am an experienced professional tutor and writer specializing in SAT, ACT, General Chemistry and Algebra I help students with SAT and ACT test prep for college entrance, scholarship awards, homework assistance, and overall grade/GPA improvement. I also provide College Admissions Coaching services to help families strategically plan, in advance, their child’s college entrance. I pride myself in the work I do. In addition to helping the student achieve their academic goals, I also help the student improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills, which is a lifelong asset. I am very flexible and I maintain an open door policy where the student can contact me at any time for assistance. **SAT and ACT Test Prep** Standardized test prep is my niche and I love helping student achieve their goals! Student score increase is a spectrum based on a combination of factors like how long I tutor the student, if the student is completing all of the exercises, and following the recommendations. I've helped numerous of students qualify for state sponsored college scholarships. --------------------------------------------------------- As a former student, I graduated Cum Laude from the Honors College at Florida International University. Then, I received a scholarship to study Global Health at Boston University where I was the VP of the student body, a Teaching Assistant in the Global Health department’s Mixed Methods Applied Research course, and I obtained a certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Digital Health and Technology. Moreover, I spent two years working on Chronic Kidney Disease research on behalf of the Department of Epidemiology at Boston University. After graduating from Boston University, I worked as a Research Associate and Project Manager for two years developing population health strategies in the areas of HIV, health care access, and quality improvement for a management consulting firm. I also have data programming, statistics, and other math skills required for research and development. ------------------------------------------------------------ Subjects I tutor: *Gen Chem I and II *SAT Test Preparation *ACT Test Preparation *Reading Comprehension *English and Writing *Algebra (Pre, 1, 2)

Did a wonderful job with SAT tutoring for my son. Son is in advanced classes and was provide with great prep work to prepare him for the SAT. Son felt very comfortable with the test after studying with this provider and performed very confidently due to her prep work. Would recommend working with 100% as she gave updates and reviews of the tutoring she performed from every session. Great work!

Mireille is great at what she does and extremely knowledgeable. I am taking my gre test in few months and I needed help with the reading comprehension section and the verbal section I tried to study everything on my own but it was overwhelming I contacted Mireille through Thumbtack and she was responsive. She’s very knowledgeable, responsive, friendly, and has great teaching techniques and she’s teaching me great strategies to understand the questions. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the service she provides. Great Tutor. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Mireille was a fantastic tutor. She was always on time and professional. She understood that I had other school work to do so she was always mindful of the amount of work she assigned. Mireille also adjusted her teaching style for my specific weaknesses. I enjoyed how she did the problems with me real time so we could go through our thought processes together.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge an hourly rate. I switched to virtual tutoring because of the pandemic, but stayed virtual because of the extreme positive feedback and preference I received from my students. The advertised price is the hourly rate for virtual tutoring or if the student travels to my location. In person tutoring is priced differently depending on how far the student lives.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Prior to an initial lesson, I recommend scheduling an initial call to discuss the academic goals for the student and my tutoring strategies to determine if we are a positive fit. Then, as I start working with the student, I will take note of their current performance compared to the goal so I can provide realistic and accurate feedback to the family. Then, as the sessions progress, I tailor the lessons to meet the student's needs. It is important that families are patient and recognize that for me to provide critical feedback, I need to work with the student for a few weeks, so I can fully analyze the student's current performance compared to what is required of them to reach their goal.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated Cum Laude from undergrad and gained a scholarship to Boston University where I obtained a masters degree from Boston University. I have a pre-med degree (Biology I and II, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology, Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Microbiology, Physics I and II), a pre-law degree, and I took graduate level math, law, applied research, and writing courses. I have 10+years of tutoring experience working with students from middle school to the college level.
