Pizzaz was wonderful! She came to perform at my 4 year old's birthday party with about 30 children and they loved it! She face painted and performed a magic show that kept the attention of restless toddlers rapt. I was also very pleased with her professionalism. From our initial booking, to confirming details the week of the party she stayed in touch and was clear about her services and the costs. When she arrived, she was able to be very flexible with the space we had available (it was a house party so we were kind of squeezed into our living room). The parents of the children in attendance have been raving to me about how much their children loved Pizzaz! Her face paintings were beautiful. I can't say enough positive things and would highly recommend her for your toddler's party.

I had a 1920s party for a good mix of american and hispanic guests. Otto showed up with plenty of time to prepare and set up his cabin, lights and other equipment. He was very accommodating, and the music made my party a success!

Jeff The Juggler and Miss Lori were very punctual. They put on a great show and the children totally enjoyed it. The highlight for the kids was the "REAL" bunny rabbit. Thank you Jeff and Lori for providing great entertainment for our party.

Chyna was great from the first communication. She knew exactly what I wanted, asked all the right questions, was very professional and did her job well. She took photos for my daughters cocktail engagement party and she arrived early to set up and to take photos of the decorations and food, etc. She took posed as well as candid shots. Knowing we were anxious to see them, she even quickly edited some of her favorites and we had them in 36 hours! Best of all she was very reasonably priced. I would use her again for a party, shower or family function for sure. Thanks Chyna😁. You didn’t let me down.

The balloon man is present at many community events....I find him to be highly entertaining. Children and adults enjoy him; it is clear to see with their laughter and huge grins. His balloon figures are terrific! If I still had children at home, I would have him at every party....and he charms adults as easily as small children. You can't go wrong with the Balloon Man!!!!!!

Max from Empire is an absolute treasure to work with. I hired him for my daughter's birthday. He was very professional, available whenever we needed him, and a great value. He provided the photo booth with tons of props, a one of a kind monogram for the room's feature wall, lighting and DJ services. Totally surprised us with a video wall -- where he displayed real time pictures of the birthday party! Max is a true professional who is up on all the new technology that my kids are into. I would recommend him over and over. He delivered everything we agreed on and more!

We hired them for a private event. What a great job they did. They rocked this party to the max, not only the music but the lights as well. These guys kicked some serious ass, plus they helped me weed out the bad songs. Thank you once again. These girls will remember this party for ever. It'll be hard to top! Would definitely hire again and have recommended them to everyone!

I'm the Activities Director at an ALF and if you're in need of new, engaging entertainment to bring some excitement to your residents, I would highly recommend Anne and Tristan. Their voices are absolutely dynamic and they very quickly developed a repertoire with our residents. They talk about them for days after they perform and always ask when they'll be returning. I have double our usual amount of people at happy hour whenever they perform and they're great about tailoring the performances to whatever you need. They've quickly become a building favorite!

    About

I have 30 years of experience as a professional DJ. My roots stem from clubs in New York City in my early years, then moving to Florida in '92. I started working weddings, birthdays, business events, holiday functions, house parties and clubs. One club in particular was the Bamboo Club on Saturday nights. Not shortly from the time we opened the doors, the club grew to be one of the top clubs in Southwest FL. on Saturday night. I main evented the club under the DJ name Superdave. My style of mixing was unique in the sense that I mixed all formats of music, from Top 40 to Latin, reggae, rock, etc., without missing a beat. High energy is the name of the game. My reputation is well deserved as one of the top DJs in this area. Just let my work speak for itself.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

What does a fortune teller do?

A fortune teller offers insight into people’s past, present and future through private readings. Some fortune tellers read palms or use tarot cards, runes, or tea leaves to see into a client’s future. Other fortune tellers consider themselves psychics, numerologists and mystics who look for patterns and meaning in seemingly random events, such as stirred tea leaves or the draw of a tarot card. By interpreting what they see in the cards or leaves, fortune tellers answer their clients’ questions about their lives, such as who or when they’ll marry, whether they should quit their job, or whether they should have a baby. Tarot card readings are a particularly popular way of having your future told, because they’re such a familiar method of fortune telling. More importantly, you can guide a tarot reading by asking the specific questions that are most important to you. By interpreting the cards you’ve drawn, the fortune teller may give you new insight into yourself and help you make an important decision. For some people, fortune tellers are simply amusing, but for others, they offer helpful guidance and spiritual nourishment.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
