This is my first experience taking cooking classes and it has been fantastic. I am finally enjoying cooking healthy without having to sacrifice flavor. Sue has walked me through the process with graceful patience and has made this experience so much fun. I'm glad I finally decided to do this, also very grateful Thumbtack helped me make this search process an easy one. I just relocated and it was scary not having relatives or friends to guide me.

My son had the opportunity to cook with Chef Deb. What an experience. He was so focused and loved it. What a great experience. If your child is interested in this they would love it. The next day we bought a pasta maker. We are looking to do it again.

I hired Chef Robyn Almodovar at first to cater my daughter's 1st birthday. Her staff was very prompt and organized. They had total control of the party which was great for me. We had passed appetizers as well as mini stations set up around my house and the food was to die for. Fresh, vibrant, fun, and most of all delicious! Since than we have hired Chef Robyn for a personal cooking lesson party...let me tell you how much fun that was, and small dinner parties. My family and I consider Chef Robyn as our personal chef....she just doesn't know it yet.

I loved the experience of cooking alongside my girlfriend and having Ana’s expertise guide us in the process made for a tasty dinner. Ana made it a fun, comfortable and learning experience trying out new dishes. I would gladly do it all over again as soon as possible. Zestcipes’ cooking class is the best thing my girlfriend and I have done together recently and would greatly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn and have a great date night at home!

Experience is an understatement from Elmer's Cooking skills. When ever we have an event his food is first on the list. He cooks this dish called Pastelone (Spelling?) which I can eat everyday for lunch and or dinner and still want more. He will cater/help anyone in need for small or large orders and spur-of-the-moment. He can handle any size party, just have to ask him what you want and it will be done. He is very dependable and very fair with pricing and just people in general. I strongly recommend his cooking skills for any occasion. You can use me as a reference anytime.

I received cooking lessons from Chef Dennis and he taught me in a way that was easily understood. I have now used his lessons in all my cooking techniques. He used the finest quality foods. I am able to make meals that I thought I would never be able to make as he taught me step by step. He was a pleasure to work with and very knowledgeable. VERY SMART INVESTMENT !

Megan catered an event that I had for my friends and customers during the Christmas Season this past year. Over 150 guests attended. Everything was perfect and I was relieved that the one thing I did not have to worry about was the food. Everyone raved about the appetizers and sweets that were served at her suggestion. She was there early to deliver and prepare the food and made sure everything was ready to serve when people started arriving. I would recommend Megan for any job in the food industry. She is dependable and an exceptional cook.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
