Introduction: I was trained under strict religious standards (Vaisnavism) where to enter the kitchen one has to be freshly bathed and with the hair covered as cleanliness is a must for the offering to be impeccably presented. I also learnt that one has to cook in the mode of goodness and never in the mode of passion or ignorance as the mood will inevitably be transmitted to the food one prepares. The creativity to combine ingredients of the season in completely different ways using the wonderful array of spices available.

A 3-hour class at my place costs: $65 per person (with a maximum of six people) The right combination of spices is one of the culinary staples that lends instant flavor and elegance to any dish.   • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I took a Cooking Course taught by Ricardina, a dear and wonderful Vegetarian Chef in Maracaibo, Venezuela and then I continued constantly researching and learning. If I'm browsing a magazine and find an interesting recipe, in the eye of my mind I immediately substitute any meat, onion or garlic, and create a new dish!

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    I became vegetarian when I was 18 and didn't know how to cook so, the first three months I ate Pizza and Pasta, Pasta and Pizza! To solve it, I bought a Vegetarian Cookbook and for the first time in my life, I prepared a meal and it turned out to be not only beautiful but very delicious so, I have continued learning until the present!
