Colette Lau with The Picture Producer LLC is the best wedding photographer out there! My husband and I are thrilled with the phenomenal pictures we received from Colette. Colette went above and beyond our expectations. She is extremely talented and has an eye for seeing things that will make absolutely fantastic pictures. Colette also has a wonderful personality and is able to make you and your group feel completely entertained and calm. We are so glad that we have such gorgeous pictures to remember the most important day of our lives. Colette has been an absolute pleasure to work with. She is incredibly professional, timely, attentive, and accommodating. She arrived earlier and departed my place later than expected. She understands how important a role she is playing and she takes it very seriously. There is no one that I would have rather had capturing our wedding day! I would absolutely without hesitation recommend Colette to any couple!!

Amazing experience working with Jose and Cynthia, great professionals with a strong work ethic and at the same time super fun to work with. We are a duet (musicians) and were sceptic about hiring an event or wedding photographer but this came out perfectly from the work flow to the final result. They gave us 200 outstanding pictures. I'll defenetly recommend them. Thanks guys!

We hired Jose for videography for our wedding on 4/24/15. Everything was wonderful! He and the other videographer were on time, looked professional and were extremely kind. Of all my vendors, Jose was by far the easiest to get in touch with and was very reassuring that he knew exactly what we were looking for, etc. When my venue started dropping the ball on a variety of things, Jose was very kind, patient and professional! I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone! I cannot wait to see all of the video and aerial shots from the drone he used! Boogietek is absolutely wonderful and affordable! Do not shy away from the affordable pricing! He's the real deal! I'll post a follow-up review once we have the finished product! SO EXCITED! THANK YOU JOSE!!!!! xoxoxo

We booked Gerber Photography for our wedding "Save the Dates", I was a little soar from surgery and she was really patient and understanding to our circumstances.

Dan did a FABULOUS job!!!! We had several meetings to discuss what we wanted to happen at our 50th wedding anniversary party! He suggested many things that we could do. We chose a few of his ideas and we are so happy that we did. It made the event so much more special. Our son-in-law sang two songs for us and he used his guitar. Dan let him come in a few hours before and they set up the necessary equipment for his performance. Dan was scheduled to play for 5 hours but the people were still dancing so he played an extra 30 minutes. The extra 1/2 hour finally tired out our guests. Dan played exactly what I asked for and our guests enjoyed dancing and listening to the selected music. At a 50th anniversary party you will have older people and younger people. He kept both the old and the young up on the dance floor all evening. I DEFINITELY would recommend Dan to play at any affair that you might be having. He is flexible and can do anything you might want. Just talk to him and explain what your needs might be. Thanks a MILLION, DAN!!!!!

We hired Beyond The Pines Production to digitize our wedding tapes and produce a highlight video of our wedding day. Our wedding video was recorded on an older (low quality) camera by another vendor. Dominic was excellent to work with; he listened to our needs and provided us with updates throughout the process. He was even creative with our highlight video and purposely gave it a vintage vibe to compensate for the poor video quality. We would definitely work with Beyond The Pines Production in the future!

Daniella did a fabulous job photographing our son's wedding in Miami Beach! She responded on very short notice, and she took beautiful pictures that really captured the emotions of the event and the personalities of my son and daughter-in-law and the family and friends who attended. Daniella recommended great outdoor locations for pictures after the ceremony, and we are very happy with the pictures. I highly recommend Daniella!

Laura was an absolute pleasure to work with. We had a last minute need for a videographer to film a concert and Laura responded with professionalism and quality. She treated us very fairly on the pricing and the final film footage we got from her had many beautifully crafted and creative shots. If you need someone to shoot a concert, special event or whatever the need is...Laura at the Video Factory is definitely the one to go to!

Our experience with Aniva was fantastic! She was so great at videography for our wedding on June 25 2016. She worked hand in hand with our photographer to make sure we got the shots needed. She is very responsive when trying to contact her email or text. She has a great price range for videography. You can tel the quality of her work by looking on her site. She got us our highlight and full video in reasonable time and the quality and work was superb. Highly recommended.

My cousin was getting married and I recommended Cristina for the happy couple to use as their wedding officiant. I had some friends who had just recently enaged her services for their wedding and they said it went seamlessly. Well, she did not disappoint. In fact we were all very impressed with her professional. She was punctual and thorough. It was delightful not to have to stress about one more thing regarding what can be a very stressful occasion. I highly recommend Cristina. Check out her website at 305notarize.

Amazing....made my wedding day so special

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
