Maurice - you sent me a message on Sept 2 indicating that you had hired me, even though I had never sent you a quote nor had I accepted the job. You asked when I would be available and I responded that I was out of town (I was out of state for my father's funeral), and I said I would be back the next week and indicated the days that I would be available. I never heard back from you, and the next thing I know you had posted a 1-star review on my profile. That is not a kind or a fair or a civilized thing to do, especially since you had never responded back to me, we never met, and I never performed any work for you! Helen "Katey" Grund, LMT

Katey is outstanding at giving a quality massage that will relax and invigorate your body. She has the touch and feel for the specific areas that need the rearl attention....the neck and the back. Take my word as if you need a quality massage....she can provide. I plan to see her again as she is great very good. Don

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $50 per hour
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Licensed Massage Therapists are required by law in most states (including Florida) to have 24 hours of continuing education units every 2 years to renew their licenses, so yes I do take CE classes! In particular, I am interested in learning more about Thai Massage, which has been around for centuries, but Americans have only recently become aware of can "google it" to see what it's all about...
How did you get started doing this type of work?
After 33 years as a licensed Registered Dental Hygienist I decided I was burned out on dentistry and wanted to change professions...and I should have gone to massage therapy school years ago! I love it!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I generally work with clients who prefer a relaxing swedish massage with localized deeper pressure on particularly tight muscles - I usually schedule 1 hour or 90 minute sessions, and I especially love using heated stones for the deep relaxation the stones provide...the client chooses either unscented or scented oils, and I use a combination of massage strokes by hand and massage strokes using the heated stones as tools. The warmth from the stones is comforting, the heat helps to relax the muscles, and the heat also helps the lotion/oil penetrate into the skin for hydration and softening.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I once had a client who's niece was an LMT in another state - the client had received many massages from her niece but had never experienced a hot-stone massage...when I was finished with her massage she said, "That was incredible! From now on I will always request a hot-stone massage!"
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask any questions that you have before you hire the provider...
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Massage therapists are educated, licensed professionals who are required to have formal training, pass a national board exam, pay for a license to practice their profession, and pay to take continuing education classes every year - you can't just hang up a sign without credentials and announce that you are a massage therapist ! (And we also have to pay to send Quotes to Thumbtack clients!)
