I needed someone at the last minute to move my uncle to his new home and I didn't know what to do. I checked with several companies but they either had to schedule it for a week or two later or wanted to charge a sizeable extra amount because I needed it the next day. I wasn't sure what I was going to do and then I got hold of Big Guy Moving. The staff was friendly and sympatized with my situation. They made a crew available to not only take care of my move but they didn't charge me extra. (I know cause I checked in on their pricing) The moving guys were polite and professional and took care of my move quickly and safely. My uncle is not the easiest guy to deal with (grumpy) and yet they never let it stop them from doing a great job and keeping a great attitude. I'm doing this review cause sometimes people just need to know that there are companies out there like Big Guy Moving who are just awesome! I will be using them again.

I will rate one star simply because the guys who unloaded most of my belongings(not all, as they left things behind without my knowledge). Otherwise they are unprofessional, rude, the have a very basic contract that they will say contains things that it certainly does not. They were HOURS late for delivery and I wouldn't have been notified at all until I called MULTIPLE times for updates. Everytime they gave me a new ETA they were very late. they damaged several pieces of my very expensive furniture. they refused to reply to messages regarding the things that they left behind until I stopped payment on their final payment because with things being left behind I do not see the move as complete. they will make up new excuses every time you say something that they do not want to hear. They want me to pay the remaining balance before they make good on their promise to shop my remaining items, not going to happen. They still pick and chose what they felt was worthy of mailing, said for me to replace my daughters outside toy by finding one on craigslist. I was not given a receipt before they left, nor was I given any sort of document to sign stating the issues that I had or having me sign off on the delivery being complete. They keep their contacts very vague so as to say that things apply that are clearly not included. I could go on and on, hopefully some of you get to read this prior to them deleting the post. I have consulted an attorney to see where to go from here so I have no outcome to report at this time. Very unprofessional, rude, careless, and completely unorganized. Shady to say the least. I will post this on EVERY ratings website that allows, BBB, Florida on your side has already been contacted and any other agency that can prevent others from being screws over by this company.

I should have done more research before using this service. We moved in the past month from one side of jacksonville to the other and utilized their packing service as well. While we were unpacking we noticed several damaged items and called to file a claim. We had to keep calling and a week later were finally told we could not file a claim because their contract does not cover damage to electronics. We asked for a copy of the contract since we were not left with a copy the day of the move nor did we sign a contract with any such stipulation. Another week with more unanswered phine calls and emails and the owner David finally responds. He promises to resolve everything in a day. The following day no response another week later and finally a second return call from David saying he is too busy, it is our fault for the damage, and he becomes abusive on the phone. Doing the research now that I should have done first I find they have an F rating with the BBB for being unresponsive to damages, they do not and have not had a moving license with the state of Florida for over a year, and they do not actually reside at the business address they list.

In a nut shell, "Do not hire this company". I hired his company, which just rents trucks, and hires guys. They were polite but broke some items. After reaching a reimbursement agreement, NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN! He dodges phone calls, messages and Debbie is no better. Stay away. If anyone has a new address for this thief, please post it. I already have some legal filings in process..."Pay up Dave, cuz things will just get really really messy if you don't".

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would say the best advise I can give someone looking to hire a mover is do your research. There is alot of companies out there that do not follow ethical standards in the industry. Make sure you read your contract so that there is no surprises in cost at the end ofthe move. ONLY HIRE LIC&INS MOVERS. I understand saving money but having someone come in your home and touch your personal items should be someone that is being held accountable by the state and piers. Remember one wrong slip and you could be paying his bills.
