Ricky is very professional and easy to work with. The crew is very quick, taking most the roof off on the first day and cleaning up after themselves. They almost finished the roof up by the second day. The roof looks great and I would recommend a Galaxy Builders roof to any of my friends and neighbors.Nov 2, 2015

Ricky and his team responded very quickly to my request and had a quote in my hand the same day. The roof replacement that was done was just as great. Would use them again in the future.Jul 30, 2014Verified
Ricky Ravelo with Galaxy Builders contacted me through thumbtack. He coordinated a time convenient for me, and came out to my home for an estimate on a roof repair. He showed up on-time and provided a thorough inspection and estimate. He followed up with me later the same day. By the end of the day, (the same day as the estimate) my roof repair was complete. I am very happy and highly recommend the team at Galaxy Builders.Jul 7, 2014Verified
I had one of my rental properties reroofed completely with an adjacent property I had a partial roof done along with a overhang to the tenants entrance. Overall I was very pleased with the outcome. The reason for my score is as follows: THE GOOD---Roof looked great , the crew was knowledgeable and they left the area in good shape. The roof was completed in a timely matter. The price was competitive, not the lowest but reasonable for the work that was to be completed. The torch down roof on my adjacent property looked great as well and the framing for the overhang over the tenants entrance actually exceeded my expectations. This was done a few days after the neighboring roof was done but with intermittent rain this was expected. I would have given Ricky a 4.5 star rating personally but this system doesn't allow half stars and the reason I wound up giving less than a 5 star review was as follows. THE BAD and UGLY: I know I am not the easiest client to please but I do ask questions and have expectations. When discussing the need for additional supplies which were needed I offered to go to Home Depot/Lowes to pick them up since I lived only a few blocks away. The price in the contract was almost triple the normal price(for additional decking and trim) and I thought I could save my self a few dollars as I didn't anticipate needed any extra decking for the roof. Ricky was prompt in sending pictures of the damaged area and while discussing my offer to pick up the extra supplies the owner jumped into the conversation ( I was on speaker phone without my knowledge) and he immediately started raising up "that's the price quoted in the contract" and I should have read" my contract. Um I did read the contract .Maybe" raising up "is your acceptable way to talk to your wife but not to me. Nothing like having someone your paying almost $8,000.00 to insult you and trying to talk over you. I was then advised by him the additional wood needed was already purchased ( even though the contract stated and I was advised by Ricky that I would be called prior to any additional purchases being made). The owner the proceeded to whine that he would just have to "eat that extra expense" and lets move on. (as a side note I was told I needed 4 extra sheets of plywood but when I came over and climbed up on the roof and spoke with roofers it turned out I needed less than one....hmm almost an extra $180.00 out of my pocket. I certainly understand I would have to pay more for convenience but I was just trying to keep my costs down. Odd that a skilled group of experienced workers would mis-estimate how much they would need. I guess its ok to ask questions. Now with all that aside, the last small complaint was the quoted price wasn't what was paid. I pad the first half with a cashiers check and decided to pay the remaining balance with a credit card after all this foolishness with the extra supplies needed. I was then advised there was a 3 percent surcharge for credit cards. Oddly this was no where in the contract. One would expect the cost of doing business would be included but apparently not. As a long time employee of a major credit card company I know If you pay by credit card you will have recourse if the job is not performed correctly or completed. In summary. Ricky overall was excellent and the job was performed on time. He was communicative with how the work was progressing and did follow up to see if I was happy. The work appears excellent and looks good.T he second partial roof and overhang exceeded my expectations and looked fantastic. Had the owner not intervened with his rather condescending and inflammatory comments and had the credit card surcharge been disclosed in the contract this would have been a 5 star rating. Unfortunately since I am rating a company and a person who is the "face of the company" there is no way to separate the two on here hence this is my overall impression. I would recommend future clients to do business with Ricky and I would encourage future clients to contact me if they have further questions or concerns. The Thumbtack system was good and gave me multiple leads in order to choose my roofing specialist.Oct 5, 2014Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Our prices system depends on the Scope of Work of the project. It ranges from $2,500.00 to over $100,000 dollars.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Yes. The Florida Department & Professional Regulation requires state contractors to attend continuing education classes. We also attend trade shows and any training or course we feel that enhance our expertise and knowledge.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I guess it all started back in Cuba when I built my first kite and sold it. I liked seen kids smiling with their kites up in the air as well as touching my pocket with an extra quarter to spare.
