FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Typically I offer two types of packages, Basic and Premium, that contain standard fees that help begin the estimation process. The primary difference between the Basic and Premium package is that the Premium includes a pre-scheduled "tech scout" in which I will conduct initial research regarding the shoot and offer my professional opinion on how the shoot should be conducted. Clients appreciate this kind of package when they are unsure of what they want, aren't sure of what is feasible in the area, or are from out of town and want some examples of location ahead of time. In addition, going Premium also offers the client a more "unlimited" experience during the shoot and post production. While the number of shots expected is predetermined in our initial conversations if more spontaneous moments were to occur the client has the option to adjust the initial structure of the shoot. The remaining pricing is based on the number of images delivered at the end of the shoot. As an added bonus, all images will be delivered to both Basic and Premium package purchases in color and black and white.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
STEP ONE: Depending on how I first learn about the project, before pitching myself and my portfolio, I make sure I understand the exact nature of the shoot that's being solicited: What "type" of a shoot is it? Is it a headshot? A family portrait? A model? A boudoir? STEP TWO: Then I assess the "location" and what that "location" may require. Does it require lighting? Does it need a backdrop? Will it be outdoors? If so, what kind of lens should I use? STEP THREE: All of these are the questions I ask myself before sending off my portfolio, pitch, and quote to a customer. This way I've already formulated questions about their project and have a tailored response to anything client's question or concern. STEP FOUR: If we decide that we are the right match for each other I then ask the client for the specific look they are going for. The way this is done is through a vision board. This can be as simple as a few pictures that they like or want to recreate for their shoot. If the client does not have any ideas and is looking for a professional suggestion, I am at your service 100%. STEP FIVE: Upon confirmation of the look, date, and time of the shoot, the client is then delivered a contract via email for review and is typically asked to pay a small retainer fee to hold the day. STEP SIX: Is the "continued check-in" stage, when I will keep in touch on the date, time, style of the shoot and take note of any changes. This is all in preparation for... STEP SEVEN: "THE SHOOT" I will show up 30-45 minutes early for prep and stay for the allotted time stated in the contract. STEP EIGHT: "THE EDIT" I will do any post-production your photos may require while sending you "teaser" photos to see how they are coming. This is an important time for the client. This is when they are allowed to critique! STEP NINE: Digital negatives will be uploaded to a password protected drive online for clients to download from. If any printing services are needed, which I do not personally provide, I will walk the client through the printing process with some of the best and most frugal companies that I have come across. STEP TEN: Client provides Miss Kaylee Bird with 5 Star Review!
