- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Be excited. Know your expectations. Do your research.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I didn't start off being an online marketer. It's a career choice that grew out of the knowledge, and a skill set that I gained from building my own bookkeeping website when I was 23 years old. When I was 23 years old I couldn't afford to run an ad in the local newspaper for $150/month, but I could buy a domain name for $34/year (this was over 20 years ago) and pay for $12.95/month hosting. I learned how to use Yahoo Site Builder (Yahoo was king before Google) and poof I had my own website that I could direct potential clients to. After a year I had enough clients I could afford to run an ad in the local newspaper, and pay for an annual ad block. Businesses should know that online advertising is a fraction of the cost of print advertising AND the print advertisement audience is a fraction of the range and audience of online advertising. Sit down, compile all your print advertising costs, take half of what you're spending on print advertising and spend it on a targeted online marketing campaign. It is never a surprise to me when companies transition to predominantly spending their advertising budget on targeted online marketing.
