FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, as a member of a video association, I am always up-to-date on the hardware and software in video production. I also read Digital Video, Digital Content, Videographer, Videomaker, and Broadcast Engineering Magazines. I also keep in touch with A/V manufacturers in all the new products that come out and get the inside scoops on the products that do not meet up to par - we stay away from. Networking also helps in finding what works for others in my field and what does not.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got in to this line of work as a hobby back in 1986 and liked it. I looked into it further and read a lot on video production, lighting, hung around pros that knew their stuff in camera operation, editing, animation, etc., invested time and money in purchasing software and learning on my own, attended many seminars and workshops, I was creative and paid close attention to detail, networked with other videographers, got to know and learn from many of the manufacturers of the same video products I was using, was a member of 3 video associations, and asked a lot of questions.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have a wide variety of events that are captured on video - Corporate work: Seminars, annual meetings, Introduction of products and staff, annual company picnics, etc.. Other events include weddings, graduations, birthdays, reunions, church functions, proms, anniversaries, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, and also funeral services. Photo montage with the clients choice of music is also popular along with converting their old VHS tapes to DVD's. We also edit a variety of raw footage that clients or other videographers captured and produce a treasured product.
