I learned more in one visit about dog behavior than I ever gained during years of classes at local dog training clubs. Absolutely a top notch, wonderful trainer. So thankful to have found Gentle Touch Dog Training.Aug 5, 2017Verified

Great first session! She was prompt, friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. Would definitely use her expertise again and highly recommend to anyone that needs assistance with their dog as well. Thanks so much Cynthia!Apr 28, 2016Verified

Cynthia helped us with the newest member of our family--and some issues that the other dogs had after our addition. She adds the appointment right to my Google calendar, so there is no question about the appointment date &/or time. Cynthia is very accommodating, prompt & courteous. Our sessions were at my home, which was very convenient. We also received paperwork with each session for our review. There was no negatively reinforced training for my dogs, all training was done with positivity--in a calm, loving manner. Every dog, & person, learned some tips & tricks on how to help all dogs behave better. They may never be the "best of friends"- however, they will be somewhat more civil with each other. I highly recommend Cynthia/Gentle Touch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Dec 22, 2014Verified

My Golden puppy was abused in the breeder's kennel, which resulted in some behaviors that were resistant to standard training methods. Cynthia not only applied the gentle training methods he needed, but she was also able to explain his behavior in a way that allowed me to work with him compassionately. Understanding how an animal thinks makes all the difference, and Cynthia really excels at that. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs standard training, but also for dogs with special needs. Having a trainer who can also offer T-Touch was a real bonus too.Feb 25, 2014Verified

Cynthia was awesome! Very knowledgable and I could tell she cared about our situation. We have a baby German Shepherd, a 2 year old pit/something else and a 9 year old puggle. The pit has been showing a degree of aggression which worried us and made us realize we need to train our dogs better to avoid future issues. In one session she has been a blessing.Sep 12, 2014Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I have a basic pricing system for individual sessions, which may vary somewhat for the area serviced or the number of dogs.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When I schedule a new client's first session, I set aside an hour and half. This time concentrates on getting a full background on both the dog(s) and the family dynamics so that I may design a training plan to fit their schedules, abilities and desires. I will always leave the client with new training techniques to work on after the very first session.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I spent a number of years apprenticing as a classroom trainer, and then a private client behavior counselor. During this time, I did a two year study of Tellington TTouch and became a certified TTouch Practitioner. To add to this knowledge, I began studying in earnest for the Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) exam, the only psychometrically sound certification exam that is independent of any school or academy. Further, I continued to become a evaluator for AKC Canine Good Citizen program, and am currently one of a very exclusive group of trainers to be approved by Victoria Stilwell as a VSPDT (Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Trainer).
