Merry was incredible! She was fast, comprehensive and extremely helpful in editing my book. She is very fair with her prices, which was great because I don't have much to shell out. Merry also was more than happy to give me a few helpful tips as I am a new writer. I obviously wholeheartedly recommend her.Dec 17, 2014Verified
Last year I started writing my first book called 'Chances are its Murder,. Not really sure what was my next step was after completion I was fortunate enough to contact Merry. It was one of the best decisions I have made. She helped me with everything, Her knowledge and delightful personality made working with her a pleasure. Words cannot express the gratitude I have towards her. I tell everyone who ask about the book I wrote that it would not have been possible without a great editor. And thats what Merry is. She's the best.Nov 12, 2014Verified
Merry has been writing for me for over 20 years. She is truly an amazing writer!Feb 12, 2014
I spent hours with my grandmother compiling her heritage recipes from the 1960's and what she remembered of her mother's recipes from the 1940's. I wanted to preserve my family's food traditions for my own children. The recipes we were selecting reminded Nonna of stories from her teenage years which she told me in detail as we poured through ingredients. When our project was complete I realized that I had more than recipes, I had an oral history of our family and the makings of a book. I hired Merry to give my book a professional look. I was amazed at the layout she produced for me. The book looks as beautiful as anything you'd find in the cooking section at Barnes and Noble. Merry trimmed my "wordy" manuscript into a work that was wonderfully concise and descriptive. She combined the stories and recipes in a flow that was beyond anything I would have thought of. When it was done my family and the community loved it. Nonna was even asked to do a segment on our local morning TV. I was hoping the experience of working with an editor wouldn't make me feel like I was in sixth grade again getting graded on my mistakes. It wasn't like that at all. Merry made me feel proud of my effort to accomplish a manuscript. She said everyone says they have a book to write but few sit down to do it. Merry definitely knows how to dot her i's and cross her t's among her many other editorial tricks. Thanks to Merry I did it! I published my book!Nov 17, 2014

- How did you get started doing this type of work?I didn't decide to get into writing as a way of life. It surfaced as a natural-born ability. You take what you get and you run with it. I've been "running with it" for more than 35 years now!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Be patient. Good editing doesn't happen overnight. Don't wait until a deadline rears its ugly head to enlist an editor's services. As a writer, you know the time it has taken you to collect your thoughts and get them on paper. Big projects, 100,000 words+, may take a month or more to edit. Make your editor happy ... plan ahead.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?I wish authors realized the value of having an editor. An editor is more than a human spell-checker or fastidious proofreader. A good editor catches inconsistencies, pinpoints the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript, and is often brutally honest. When you hire an editor, you are hiring a professional. Expect great work.
