Carmine made the experience very personal. Out of everyone who emailed me he was the only one who called to reach out. He met me in person first to go over my work experience, then to go over the resume he had written for me and make sure I was satisfied. He has also made himself available should I need any advice during my job search

It took me a while to decide for a personal trainer and I have to say that I was lucky to find Dagion. He is very professional and knowledgeable. The variety of the exercises are great and he always pushes you. I didn't want to think about my training. I just wanted to do it. Dagion helps me to focus on the training Besides all the good things I already mentioned I had back issues for over a year. After working out with Dagion I don't feel the pain anymore. Dagion started to test what exercises I was able to do and adjusted the training accordingly. Happy to have him as a Trainer.

I have been training with Gabriela for more than 8 years. I work out with her 3 times a week, where she uses different methods and equipment to make her class unique and entertained. Her training has always been committed to focus on my needs especially that I suffered a car accident in 2008 where she accommodated her training with special exercises to help me recover from the accident. Her expertise and knowledge is outstanding. Every class is different, dynamic and she provides motivation to accomplish the goals. It has been the best to have Gaby as a personal trainer for many years. She is responsible, dedicated and punctual. If you are looking for a personal trainer, I highly recommend Gabriela. She is the best!

I learned about V and V Performance through this website and it has been the best thing. I have had other personal trainers before but was never satisfied due to their lack of interest in my training goals and the fact that they always did the same exercise over and over. My first meeting with Ves he explained to me how the training works and sat down and spoke to me to learn about my goals in exercise and to learn a little more about me. I have been training for almost three weeks now and I couldn't be any happier I have already gone down 2.5 lbs . If you are looking for trainers who will not only support you but also truly be interested in your goals these are the trainers for you. I highly recommend them to anyone who is serious about training of any kind.

Brian has been my personal trainer for over a year. He was very good at motivating me to push hard even on days when I didn't think I could do it. Brian is very knowledgeable with equipment in the gym and what foods and supplements to use or avoid to get the best results. The workouts can be really tough but I saw the results by keeping at it. For losing weight, did combination of weight training with high intensity cardio and Brian told me exactly what to eat and drink before and after the workout to get the most out of the session. I am almost 50 years old yet after a year of training, I feel like 30 years old and feel strong. When you pick Brian as your trainer, he will take care of all the details of what to do and he will make sure you do proper form to get the most out of each exercise. This also includes adjusting the weight based on your current strength level so that it isn't too easy or too hard but challenging based on the reps he is targeting.

I have worked with OEG for 5 years both in South Florida and NYC, and has become an integral part of my fitness routine. Ozzy’s extensive experience as a personal trainer, as well as his knowledge of nutrition and stretching techniques has been key to building a healthy lifestyle. Over the years we have worked through weight loss, recovery from injury, strength building and positive reinforcement that has left me feeling strong, happy and energized. Every workout is customized to the response of my body that is enjoyable and well balanced. My experience has been so positive that my family and many friends are also now working with Ozzy.

I came to Duane at a low point in my journey....I knew that I was about 50 lbs heavier then I needed to be and I knew that I needed someone to push me to get back in the gym. After an initial conversation, Duane started a slow and deliberate program that allowed me to start seeing small results quickly. Duane is very patient and listens to your concerns. I have had trainers in the past that become complacent with the sessions (60 mins in/out same exercises every session) which caused me to loose interest with the whole thing. Duane has a unique approach to helping you reach your goals thru fitness and nutrition but by texting, emailing and communicating. And often times (for me) those communications are 50% of it....I feel like I am not doing it alone. Duane's sessions are tough but never beyond my capabilities and he pushes you to achieve things you did not even know you could do. His private gym is clean, state of the art and best of all, private and personal....you are not competing (or listening to) the 20 year old jock on the equipment next to you. As a 51 yr old male, my goal is to be fit enough to go to the beach, take off my shirt and feel confident and secure with the way I look....I am not there yet but Duane is getting me there. He is constant and if you are looking for a trainer that will work with you to achieve your goals....you will not be disappointed.

Elba was great in helping me change my eating habits step by step towards a much healthier way of eating. I did a supermarket tour with her where I learned how to prioritize organic foods, read food labels and really understand the impact of my daily choices in my health (and my family’s). I’m still working with her through her 6 months program and I totally recommend her to anyone who is looking for a positive change in their life (not just nutritional change, but personal). Elba will help you get you there!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.
