Jorge was terrific to work with. Very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. He assembled some furniture I purchased from Wayfair and installed some bathroom cabinets for me. I would definitely use him again.

Highly recommended. Responded to my request within minutes, stopped by the house within a day and completed the work by weeks end. He fixed my front door, located and sealed several leaks on the exterior of my house, installed new appliances and repaired my baseboards which had some water damage. He showed up on time, has a very good attitude, was very friendly, completed the work within a reasonable time and at a reasonable price. I will definitely hire him again in the future.

He and Melly replaced 3 exterior doors for me, 2 in one location and 1 at another. They were prompt and finished the doors in one afternoon which considering the rainy weather was quite an accomplishment. The work seems to be of excellent quality in old buildings which is not an easy task. The jobs were cleaned up on completion. Many try but few do a good job at this. I am satisfied enough to ask them about redoing a kitchen (cabinets etc) for me. Tough day for all but they remained pleasant despite getting wet several times. They get and At-A-Boy! I might add also that this is my second time using the services of someone recommended by Thumbtack and will recommend Thumbtack to others. My daughter has had the same results in Los Angles, Ca. Must be something there.

We had several kitchen cabinets refinished and they now match perfectly with the other cabinets. We also had floating shelving built and installed in the living room and a bedroom. The professionals at ABV Wood and Designs were able to match colors with the other wood items in the rooms. The floating shelves provide us with space to display items of personal importance in an attractive and efficient manner. This was the second time we have used ABV; they exceeded our expectations both times. Their pricing is competitive and the quality of their workmanship outstanding. They show up on time, take care to protect surrounding furnishings, and always clean up after themselves. We highly recommend ABV and anticipate using them for future projects. Jared was really great - he was punctual, did a terrific job, impeccable manners and finished a job I had been wanting to accomplish for years (my laundry room)! He did it all within one day - it included baseboard molding, grout sealing, hanging cabinets, cutting and hanging shelves, installing a low profile dryer vent, a clothing rod, and some additional odd jobs needed in other areas of the house. He also helped me decide on how to use the laundry room space and I couldn't be happier. I will definitely hire him again and again!

I happened across Thumbtack for the first time this week, and I'm so glad I did. I hired Sean to put together a bunch of cabinets that would have taken my husband and I forever to put together. Sean not only did a perfect job, he did so quickly. He was extremely polite and thorough. I already have plans to hire him again to help with some minor electrical work and to install a new sink. It's really difficult to find a reliable handyman these days. I'm so glad I called Sean. Highly recommend him!

Pressley Kitchens remodeled our kitchen and hall bath. We LOVE the cabinets especially the large crown molding! Chris and his helper Brad were a pleasure to work with. My mother came to visit for 4 days and Chris was able to adjust his schedule to accommodate us. We have already contracted with him to remodel our master bath. Jacke Dziergas

Raphael (Astro Painting Services) did an amazing transformation of our kitchen cabinets. They were 25 years old and not in great shape. We didn’t want to replace them because of cost, so Raphael came over for a consultation to tell us some options. He’s super friendly! And very knowledgable. Lots of people told us you can’t really repaint cabinets and have them look good. He told us he could repaint all of the cabinets and that it would look like a new remodeled, upgraded kitchen. He worked really hard day after day, and he was right! He scrubbed the cabinets clean and did a beautiful paint job. We now have gorgeous white sleek cabinets with a nice finish. The kitchen looks like a brand new kitchen, and this will definitely help the sale of our house. Now he’s back putting on cabinet knobs for a final polished look. We couldn’t be happier.

We had a fantastic experience with Gustavo! He installed the cabinets in our new kitchen and two new bathrooms. He was very good with communication and arrived when he said he would. He was easy to work with and was always working with a smile. If there were issues he took care of them or offered solutions. His pricing wasn't the least expensive, but after he came out to see the proposed work I knew he'd be great to work with and in South Florida I will pay a premium for someone like that! Working with him and the quality of the final product were well worth it. I would hire him again and probably will to put some cabinets in our garage. We only had one issue with his work and it was actually the work of his helper. He resolved that issue quickly. Finding someone with Gustavo's work ethic in South Florida is rare. If you need a cabinet installer I recommend him highly. Tom

I have been using them in many many occasions for all types of services. I own a 4 properties. Had never found anybody like them. There is never a problem they can't solve. The service provided is top notch and their professionalism is unmatched. They always try to make themselves available when you need. I call them my angels. I cannot recommend them enough!!! I have had Ikea furniture assembled. Kitchen cabinets assembled and hung, remodeling, painting, plumbing, electrical, re grouting of my floors (wow) , hanging tvs on walls, helping me with designing, switching light system to recessed and much more. The need for calling different people is over! Trust implicitly. You must experience their service to understand. They also stand behind whatever they do. Very very satisfied client. Alina

The 5 star rating is well deserved and I would heartily recommend Kitchen Ready Cabinets to others. The timeline we agreed on was fulfilled and the guys were always on schedule. Never had to follow up and "chase" anyone, which I have experienced in past with many contractors - luckily this time I did not have to deal with that stress. Apart from that , the price and quality is unbeatable... I contacted several specialists for this job and I got the best value for money from Kitchen Ready Cabinets. I will sure be using this Company for all my future renovations as they also do closets, bathroom vanities, etc.

They did an amazing job in one week! My kitchen looks like new!! They painted the cabinets, built and installed a new wooden countertop, installed new appliances, and they also installed a new bathroom cabinet with plumbing included. They are 100% reliable, honest, responsive (they even sent me several videos of the work in progress), and very reasonably priced. 100% recommended. THANK YOU Daniel and Felipe! thank you Temuco. Jose did an excellent job with our cabinets. The work was good quality and done on time. The install took a bit longer than expected but he did not charge more and even came back to do some adjustments for us. Would definitely use again!

When we decided it was time to remodel our kitchen we got several quotes and were skeptical of what would be the delivered product from them. Then we got to see a home JVM kitchens had renovated and we were very impressed. When we contacted them they arranged everything in a timely manner, were frank about cost expectations, time frames and the fear factors we could expect to encounter.  Its been 9 months since they wrapped up and I still find myself gazing in amazement at the incredible results. Their cabinetry is hands down the finest quality available. We'd been through a lot of luxury home tours and can say that none of those had the same quality finish work that JVM installed.  Yes, our budget was greater than we first thought, but the cliche, "You get what you pay for" is very true when it comes to creating your dream kitchen, but I should also mention the remodel encompassed all new appliances, a laundry room, den and bar area as well. Bottom line, Jvm kitchens made our dream kitchen a reality. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Joe is my go-to-guy to repair / install everything around the house sans electric work (well, he did mount a tankless water heater with existing breaker & electrical wires). I've worked with him on & off for about three years now and have zero complaints. He has always finished every project he has started and has worked weekends / stayed late to meet my deadlines. Scope of work done - Fencing / landscaping Exterior & interior painting Siliconizing roofs & fixing roof leaks Plumbing including installing garbage disposal, touch sensitive faucets, utility sink, soldering copper pipes Installing blinds & window screens Replacing attic and porch screens Replacing & painting kitchen cabinet doors To top it all, his price has always been the most competitive.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you refinish kitchen cabinets?

If you’re ready for a new look and feel in your kitchen but don’t want to replace the cabinet layout or your cabinet doors, refinishing your existing kitchen cabinets is a great option. To be a good candidate for cabinet refinishing, your cabinet boxes and doors need to be in good condition. Cabinet refinishing includes taking down your doors, sanding or stripping the surface, preparing the doors with primer as needed, refinishing them with as many coats of stain or paint are necessary, then re-hanging them in their original locations. If you’re not in love with your kitchen cabinet layout, talk to a designer or contractor about creating an alternative. Refinishing simply means adding new shine to the existing setup, so if you’re dying to have a pull-out pantry or maximize wall space by going flush to the ceiling, you may want a different approach. Functional and stylish ready-to-assemble (RTA) cabinets can be similar in cost to refacing your existing cabinets, so keep the budget-friendly RTA option in mind when making decisions.

Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How do you resurface cabinets?

Resurfacing kitchen cabinets means that you retain your original cabinet boxes and existing cabinet layout and simply remove and replace the front layer of your cabinet doors. Cabinet resurfacing can also entail replacing damaged cabinet doors, keeping those that are in good shape, and installing a new surface on all of them. Cabinet resurfacing may also refer to a decision to completely change out cabinet doors because they are damaged or their style is out of date, but keeping the existing cabinet boxes and layout.

If you’re handy and have all the proper tools, cabinet resurfacing can be a DIY project, especially if you’re simply repainting. However, if you’re not comfortable removing and replacing your cabinet doors, doing precision measurements and cutting, or working with sanders and power tools, then this may be a project better left to the pros. You or your handyman or cabinet installation specialist will remove all cabinet door and drawer fronts and all hardware, then prepare the surfaces for a new layer. The pros should also update the veneer or laminate the frames to match. Once the new laminate, veneer or surface has been applied and new hardware installed, your cabinet doors and drawers are hung once more in their original locations. The national average cost for refacing cabinets is $5,000.

Can you resurface laminate cabinets?

Resurfacing laminate cabinets is an affordable and relatively easy way to give an outdated kitchen a fresh new look. If your existing cabinets are in good shape and you like your current cabinet layout, putting a fresh face on your kitchen could mean simply painting over the current laminate or putting a new laminate surface on the doors and drawers. Cabinet resurfacing may be possible for the capable DIY homeowner, but if you don’t have the proper tools or the know-how, it’s wise to call a handyman or a cabinet installation specialist to ensure you have a professional-looking outcome. To make sure your kitchen is right for cabinet resurfacing (as opposed to completely replacing your cabinets), ask yourself:

  • Do I like the layout of my current cabinets?
  • Are the cabinet boxes structurally sound?
  • Are the floor and framing in good condition to keep cabinets supported over time?
  • Are the cabinets free of water or wood damage?
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
