Introduction: Since 1987, I have been a professional in the health and fitness field. I am not here to sell you any hype, feed you some fantasy dreams, or make you any empty promises of offering you unattainable results. The bottom line: you must put in 100% effort if you want to change your body. There is no magic pill or no magical routine that will change you. If you are willing to train hard, eat right, rest, and most importantly, listen to your body, you will change, and you will attain your body's potential. I am an old-school trainer, but I mix the old with the new. Twenty-eight years ago, I began my journey as a bodybuilder, and since then, I have grown to incorporate all types of strength and cross-training techniques in my clients' sessions. If you are looking for a no-nonsense trainer, and you are willing to work hard, train smart, and listen, then I am the trainer for you! Anma (Nihon Kaifuku Anma) and deep muscle trigger release: Over 15 years ago, I had the privilege and honor of meeting Mr. Vargas, when I was managing a spa and fitness facility in Aventura, Florida. Mr. Vargas was an excellent therapist who combined Eastern and Western practices of Anma (Nihon Kaifuku Anma) and deep muscle trigger release, respectively, to create his own style of practice. Anma (Nihon Kaifuku Anma) is been around for over one thousand years; it's been incorporated into several different forms of Japanese martial arts in helping individuals restore their sore muscles. The foundation is the kneading technique (Ju Netsu Ho) and is combined with several different applications to construct this type of work. Trigger points are always present. Trigger points are specific points along a muscle or tendon, and everyone shares approximately the same ones. Daily activity, stress, and workouts begin to accumulate physical stress at the site of these points, which become hyperirritable. Now, the trigger point has become what is commonly known as a "knot," which has a wide range of pain degrees, from mild to debilitating. Trigger point practitioners apply pressure to the affected point(s) or the points up- or downstream from the affected site where the issue may actually be originating and utilize the trigger point kneading technique to work the muscular hyperirritability (knot) out of the affected soft tissue. The initial sensation on a trigger point may be painful, but with prolonged pressure (anywhere from 30 seconds to five minutes), the pain dissolves into mere pressure once the knot releases. I had the privilege of studying and perfecting this technique under Vargas for the first five years of my practice. His training combined with my prior knowledge of body mechanics, anatomy, physiology, and bodybuilding allowed me, in turn, to develop my own unique practice as well, which is a symbiosis of Anma (Nihon Kaifuku Anma) and deep muscle trigger release. In my own experience, I am no stranger to bodily pain. In my 46 years of living, I have been involved in two major car accidents, one gun shot wound, two herniated discs, twice fractured left tibia, rotator cuff partial tear, knee osteoarthritis, piriformis syndrome, pulled hamstrings, strained quadratus lumborum, and forearm strains to the point where making a fist is impossible. Despite my injuries, I am pain free 99% of the time, and I contribute it to my unique combination of Anma (Nihon Kaifuku Anma) and deep muscle trigger release. I have tried other forms of practices, but nothing has worked for me but this and combining my yoga practice and weight training to keep my muscles strong.
