I've never touched a drum set before and my fear was that lessons would lack a balance between the necessary technique and the "just for fun" element. Kalil tailors a well-balanced lesson based on your musical interests and goals, keeping you on your toes with what is next to learn. he is equal parts knowledgeable and structured, as he is fun and encouraging. I'm always excited for next time!Oct 26, 2019Verified
I am 55 years old and have always wanted to get really proficient on the drum kit (that I’ve owned too long without enough to show for it). I would say that I was at an upper-beginner level When I found Kalil on this site. He is what I was looking for. He mixes fun, achievable grooves with rudiments/drills in a good balance (a previous drum teacher I had focused way too much on the rudiments and we did nothing fun at all!). Anyway, I believe that in the few months that I’ve been taking lessons from Kalil, my proficiency has doubled.Feb 1, 2020Verified
Kalil had me playing two songs in just three lessons! I love the hands on approach and the lessons are always fun and entertainingJan 15, 2020Verified

As a live vocal music performer, I often receive unexpected requests from my clients. A few months ago, I was asked to identify a percussionist to join me for a performance at The Forge in Miami. It was a last minute request, and there was only one miami-based musician that came to mind! Kalil Bohannon showed up (on time) and was prepared for the one song performance with me. His style is intuitive, and he knew how to provide just the right amount of volume to compliment the tracks and vocals and not drown me out. It was a pleasure to share the stage with him, and I look forward to other opportunities for us to work together soon. https://youtu.be/IBV0Ro-d69lApr 25, 2017
