I first learned about qigong about five years ago but wasn't really interested until this last year. I met Ninos and he's definitely motivated me to keep up my practice. The youtube videos are nothing compared to this teaching. His some of his classes made me sweat and some of them had my mind a million miles away in a very zen place. I'm really grateful to have met such a passionate and well-rounded instructor. I've lost a lot of weight not just because of the physical aspect of qigong but mostly the mental reconditioning it has brought me. I feel better than I have ever have and it shows.

I'm a university music professor and I teach about 1000 voice lessons a year. Too often, my students suffer with performance anxiety. I have worked with Dr. Charrow as a colleague and friend for several years now. I recently invited her to lead a weekend masterclass with my university students on the issue of dealing with performance anxiety/stage fright. It was a hit! Students are still talking about the strategies they took away and the confidence that it has instilled in their performances. When the time is right, we will have her back. She's great one-on-one and in a group session. Hire her!

On Monday, October 21st 2013 Delta Gamma Fraternity at The University of Tampa had the privilege of working with Steve Sapato, professional public speaker. Mr. Sapato lead an educational discussion on alcohol to the campus’s Greek community and so generously waived his $250 fee. Delta Gamma asked Mr. Sapato to provide us with a lesson on the good and bad outcomes of alcohol. The presentation was not only informative but also interesting. Mr. Sapato was able to keep the attention of over 100 college students by making the presentation interactive and fun for the audience. One of the points that stuck in our heads was that, "Alcohol can be like your best friend, but if you continue to abuse and mistreat your best friend then they will eventually leave you. This is something no one would want, and if you continuously misuse alcohol then that can lead your life in a direction you wouldn't normally want to be in." After the presentation, I waited to speak to some of the audience to hear their thoughts. All positive feedback was collected. The audience appreciated that Mr. Sapato was so realistic. Giving a talk to college students on alcohol could have been tough, since a majority of these students consume alcohol. However, Mr. Sapato recognized this issue and pleasantly surprised us all. Rather than throwing out all the bad and negative points, attempting to scare us away from alcohol, he focused in on teaching about moderation and how it can be enjoyable when used safely. Mr. Sapato stressed the severity of the consequences that come with drinking and driving, and told us to always remain in control. He made the lesson fun and I believe that all of us now have a stronger knowledge of just how much we need to be careful of our actions. It was a pleasure working with Mr. Sapato, we would highly recommend his services and look forward to using him in the future.

Todd was able to help me overcome some serious stumbling blocks in both my life and my career. His probing questions forced me to think and consider many things in my life. I couldn't be happier with where I have moved to after working with Todd and although I planned a short term coaching experience I don't think I will be stopping this anytime soon. The value he brings is top notch.

If you are seeking a yoga instruction, Shelley Parris Williams is the one to go to. Aware of her practice in FL, I anxiously awaited for her arrival in NY so I could be led by her. Not only does she demonstrate knowledge of technique, but she taught me how to breath correctly (I knew I had been shortening my breathe with incorrect breathing) and takes time to connect with you. Guided by her words and movement, I experienced an "ahhhhhhh" type of experience. Everyone should share in this experience with her!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

    • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
    • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
    • Defining your career goals
    • Creating a plan for job searching
    • Improving networking strategies and skills
    • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
    • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
    • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

    Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

    • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
    • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
    • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
    • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
    • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
    • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
    • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

    What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
