Deborah Cain was extremely pleasant, hospitable and very supportive & patient with my attempt at learning how to play the piano. She was so very helpful in discussing how I need to progress and provided me with a number of suggestions.....including letting me know that I need to practice, on my own, for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. She wasn't demanding, at all. I was so pleased with Debbie, that I signed-up for 12 more private lessons; one per week. Piano is a really tough instrument to play. There's so much to learn and comprehend, and Debbie takes the time to teach you the things you need to know. She doesn't make me nervous. Her calm disposition and patience is a great thing to see in a teacher. She makes me feel very comfortable, and she knows what she's doing!! I'm so glad I found her through Thumbtack, and I'm so glad that she offers very reasonable and affordable rates. You'll definitely want to get in touch with her; especially if you live in the NW Tampa area. I'm sure glad I did!!! Thanks, Debbie, for your patience, you ability to teach music, timing, theory and all that other "stuff" that goes with learning how to play the piano. I really appreciate you and your skills, and I'm so glad we met. Also, her 1st lesson is "complimentary"!! How nice is that!!! :-)

Debbie is an amazing teacher with endless patience and encouragement for learners of all ages! She has been a master piano teacher for over 40 years with a wealth of experience and insight. As a teacher of character education, she stresses that the many benefits of learning to play the piano is that it teaches discipline, perseverance, and builds self esteem in the development of a life long love of music that is priceless. She believes in her students and enjoys celebrating their successes with them.

My son started piano lessons with Mrs. Cain when he was five years old. She is a wonderful, experienced, teacher that cares for her students and their musical development. My son absolutely loves her and I would recommend her for anyone that is looking for a knowledgable piano instructor. She is patient and easy to work with! I have even taken lessons from her myself (an adult). Thanks to her for years as a committed teacher!!!!!

We are thrilled with our son's music lessons at Maestro Maines Studio! Our son has had both drum lessons and steel pans lessons, and he has enjoyed both! In fact, he loves the steel pans class so much that he looks forward to that class all week. As a homeschool family, I am thrilled that homeschool classes will be added starting in January, along with a group steel pans class. Yippee! It's businesses like this that make me love our community. Give it a try! Your kiddo(s) will probably love it!

My daughter's first experience with Maestro Maines Studio was with his Amazing Jurassic World Summer Camp. A week of music , instruction and Dinosaur fun! She loved the studio so much that she wanted to continue with Steel Pan lessons. This has grown into a true passion and her Steel Pan Lessons are the HIGHLIGHT of her week!

Mr. Luttrell is very professional in his work. He took me from knowing nothing about piano to playing proficiently in a month flat! The way he did this is by teaching me the 80/20 of piano, which is the most important things first basically the 20% of piano that gave me 80% of my results. I highly recommend him as a teacher for anyone looking to learn the right way rather than just what's popular!

I had always wanted to take voice lessons but due to the expense, it was something I had never pursued. It was only when I was cast in a community theatre musical production for a character outside of my vocal range that I decided to pursue the opportunity. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to study with Joe. He is very passionate about his craft. He is knowledgeable and efficient. His method of teaching is extremely comprehensive and with each lesson, I learned more and more. Over the course of our few weeks together, I expanded my vocal range and gained the confidence I needed to perform perfectly. My voice was noticeably stronger- not only to me, but to my family and my musical theater peers. He worked hard to accommodate my schedule and never hesitated to put in additional time. Recently, I was cast as a lead in another community theatre musical production. While my voice is pretty, I am confident that my ability to secure this role was because I had spent time working with Joe. I will continue to work with him throughout my community theatre endeavors and would recommend him to anyone seeking to improve their vocal range and/or skills. He truly is a wonderful teacher and this review does not do him justice.

Rafael is like a grandfather to me. He allows me to call him if I have any questions and introduced me to a lot of new cellists to listen to. Rafael has been very understanding of my schedule as a full-time student and we meet at the most convenient time for me. His books and lessons always brighten my day and I always learn something new. He believes in his students and their talent, I couldn't ask for a better teacher.

I came to American rock school as an adult 38-year-old wanting to get better at playing guitar. I had taken lessons from five teachers over the previous four years. I thought that basic chords and scales were about all I would ever be able to play. I am not a musically talented person, I just enjoy music. American rock school has taught me to hammer on, pull off, bend strings, add tremolo, and play most every chord shape on the guitar. Now I can jam along with all my favorite songs which is something I thought I would never be able to do. The school also puts students together to form bands, it gives kids the opportunity to feel like a rockstar and play on stage, they even get some public events.

My Son love American Rock School since the first day he did start his Guitar lesson he told me Mommy I "love it" but I do like the most how my instructor treats me, he feels very good because his instructor makes him feel that he is the best. Every body there are very professional.

Mr. Erik was my vocal coach for over three and a half years. Throughout those years he taught me three different languages (Italian, German, French), basic piano, singing techniques, performance quality, and much more. He always keeps the lessons fun and interesting and finds ways to help you better understand music from both a technical and emotional standpoint. Working with Mr. Erik made me a more confident and technical singer. He helped prepare me for college and all of my auditions for musicals. He also sparked my interest in classical singing which is something I will always be thankful for because it made me a more well rounded singer. Mr. Erik is a phenomenal teacher and person who has so much to offer anyone he works with.

I have been a student of Erik's for two years. He has shared his depth of knowledge in musical theory, technique and practice strategies over this time. My lessons with Erik have helped me progress toward my goals of becoming a better pianist and understanding the fundamentals of musical theory and analysis.

I worked with Bonnie in preparation for my undergraduate degree. She was excellent in working with me and helping me to prepare scales and etudes as a clarinetists. Additionally, she was excellent in preparing me for the piano skills I would need as a Music Major. Even more than technique and scales, I felt she worked closely with me to always make as much music as possible in each exercise, etude, solo work, or chamber music piece. Furthermore, I also recommend her because she is a wonderful, thoughtful, and kind person. --Dr. Jessica Lindsey, Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Taylor is a great guy who is good at teaching the piano. I rarely feel frustrated when working with him, as his patience is infectious. He is also very flexible on scheduling. Within the first month, I have already learned how to read notes, play several shorter songs, and overall feel much more comfortable when sitting at the piano.

I began learning to play the cello with Gonca about ten years ago while in high school. She started me off learning the Suzuki method. She provided ample feedback and experienced advice on the nuances of performing during my learning, which is difficult to find in other experienced performers. Whenever I reached an impasse in my practices she would provide me with alternative studies to break through those difficulties. She strives to teach more than just the ability to play, but to cultivate the maturity to become a superb performer. Though it has been a few years since I moved away and had the pleasure to study under Gonca Huff, I am always thinking back to her instruction on every new musical challenge.

About

I'm a self-taught guitar player. I do local performances around the university area. My main focus is to express the fun of playing music with others and to allow my students to become involved in the music-making process as early as possible. Knowledge of music theory is not necessary as I will teach you the ideas behind chords, melody, harmony, and rhythm. The purpose of these lessons is so that the student may feel at ease learning songs as well as jamming out with their friends and other musicians. Genres of interest include (but are not limited to) pop, folk, reggae, country, and jazz.
