Introduction: I have dual certification in Elem.Ed. and Special Education (K-21). I hold a Masters in Education with a Minor in Theatre Arts. In addition, I have several graduate courses toward a Masters in Reading focusing on the Assessment and Treatment of Reading Problems in school age children. I have served as Reading Consultant/Teacher in both the Kansas City Public Schools and Houston Public School District for 5 years. My other fields of speciality include serving as Adjunct Professor of Spanish and ESL for Community College in NY state for over 13 years. I continue to work with both students and adults in these areas as well as in GED prep for adult students. I am a seasoned Educator with over 35 years of teaching experience both in and out of the classroom. My work experience has taken me to the private sector in both industry and government ,as well. I have even had the opportunity to work in Penal Education at the Nassau County Correctional Center(NY) for 3 years. There I worked in the Women's Rehab.Unit preparing the residents to re-enter the outside world. I love what I do. I strongly feel that no student is incapable of achieving his goals, regardless of age, environment or past life experiences. My ongoing philosophy is " listen to your students and meet their needs ". This works for all students, adults and school age. At this time with our current world health crisis, I AM DOING ONLINE TUTORING with ALL STUDENTS. Hopefully, this will soon change and I will be able to do in person tutoring once again!

Gail is simply the best with our son who has ADHD. She is helping him with his writing and reading comprehension in a way that no one else could. Her work with our son has made a huge difference in a short amount of time. We are SO grateful to her!!!!! Highest recommendations!!!!!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

If I am working with more than one student from the same family, I would be open to providing a discount depending on the number of hours I would be working with them per week.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I usually like to do an in person assessment of an SE student before proceeding. I will begin lessons immediately upon meeting adults w/o a formal assessment.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Thirty plus years in the Education field. both in and out of the classroom definitely have broadened my professional horizons. As both a parent and an educator, I believe in treating the "whole" student, not just the problem. After all, my students are part of a family unit who, in fact, are directly affected by their problems as well.
