The sycamore tree was cut down as requested. The clean up of the debris was very, very good. There was a small hiccup as the stump grinder did not arrive until the next day. He was was to have been here on the same day as the tree was cut down. The stump grinder also did a great job. I would most certainly recommend this company for tree services. We have already given this comany's contact info to a friend who has the need for tree services. Two thumbs up for the great service. We would use your company again. Keep up the very good service.

Kevin and Kelly were right on time to trim my trees - front and back yards. Told me how they were going to shape each tree and then did it! Also, gave me several great suggestions on how to revitalize the backyard. Cleanup? Better than what I normally do. A FIRST CLASS job all around.

I would like to share my experience with this company for those looking to do any and all aspects of yard work for your homes or businesses. Robert and his group of workers have done such an exceptional job! We started out with a disaterous piece of property. We needed sod, irrigation, gradin, tree cutting and fencing done at our new home. We not only received a reasonable estimate. We received awesome quality work! I never even imagined our yard to look so fantastic. They were there when they said they were going to be and worked tirelessly for days to complete what needed to be done. Even with us adding more to the original job. Our yard is beautiful! Many thanks to Robert and Cody for all your time. We have also decided to keep them on to maintain our yard to keep it looking fantastic! We couldn't be happier with the outcome! Side note... People when you hire workers to do work in your yards, especially in Florida! Its always a nice gesture to fill a cooler with ice and Gatorade or water for the workers. If it's a long job requiring several days. Buy them lunch at least one day. Happy workers make productive workers. Just a thought. Thanks again Greenfeld and Yauger!

I would definitely use Executive Landscaping again. Mathew and his team were professional and he was fare in his pricing. He was hired to remove a tree which turned out to be a bigger challenge than it seemed at the time of my request on Thumbtack. Being a landscaper and not a tree removal company, the tree was much larger than Mathew and his team expected. Regardless of the challenge, he accepted the responsibility. They continued to work even when it rained and when they had a momentary problem with their equipment. I gave them 4 out of 5 stars only because I had to arrange a separate pick up with Waste Pro for an additional cost to haul away some of the tree waste. In all fairness, Mathew took as much of the stump and branches that his equipment could hold. As previously stated, I would definitely hire them again as well as recommended their services!

I hired Ironclad to uproot and replant some palm trees. Multiple other people told me it couldn't be done, but these guys had the confidence and were willing to tackle the challenge. The trees were moved successfully and are now thriving in their new location.

I wanted Mr. Moore to help redo my front yard landscape. He did a great job with his crew. He removed all my existing landscape and also trimmed couple of medium oak trees to increase the visibility of the house to the street. Planted a variety of plants after getting the design approved by me and also transported and put in the fountain that I have purchased separately. Very professional and courteous service. Will definitely hire again for similar work.

This is a company I would recommend to family, friends, neighbors and strangers. Matt knows trees. He recommended different options regarding the removal and trimming of our landscape thus saving us hundreds of dollars (from comparable estimates). Prompt, no pressure, pleasant personality, respectful, works very hard as does his crew. Glad we found a reputable tree service -- Matt's Pro Arbor Care. Add them to your contacts.

Earthworms did an excellent job mowing my lawn, including a backyard area that was quite overgrown. They also cut back a bush and tree that needed attention. My only concern was that they failed to show up twice when appointments were scheduled.

We had about 20 established palm trees pruned this past August and APS Tree Service did an outstanding job. They were punctual, pruned the trees as instructed, cleaned up the tree debris after the job and charged a reasonable price. You don't have to waste precious time comparing the price, work performance and reviews of other tree service companies. I did that research for you and wanted to share my exceptional experience by taking time to let others know through Thumbtack. Maureen

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
