Kevin was awesome. Originally hired him for fence repair. He not only repaired the fence, but put in light fixtures, fixed door hinges, and did a little touch up paint on the interior of the house. Great handy man!! Wonderful expression.

What a pleasure it was to work with Domenick and his crew on painting the interior of our condo. Domenick was the only one of the four people I brought in for estimates who actually measured the square footage of the walls and ceiling. He gave us the lowest bid. I don't always go with a low bid, but I felt positive about Domenick. He was knowledgeable and had a quick grasp of what we wanted done. I'm experienced with painting and knew that his estimate was right on target, while others were way over-priced. I'm so glad I went with my instinct! His work crew of three young men were courteous, respectful, hard-working nice guys and did a beautiful job of painting and clean-up. Dominic is now my "go to" for any future painting.

I cannot say enough about this company! They showed up on time and made quick work of painting the exterior of my house. Their painting skills are SUPERB (no runs or overlapping paint anywhere) and even my husband (who used to paint houses) was impressed! Aurelia the manager gave us a good price & even did a walk thru afterwards to check the work & make sure that we were satisfied! I will definitely be using them again for future painting needs!

DO NOT HIRE THIS GARCIA FAMILY CONTRACTORS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!!! My husband and I hired them to paint most of the interior of our home! Everything was painted except the walls and ceilings! They were very very unprofessional! Welched on my front doors that he included in the price he quoted me! They broke a 5" piece out of my marble top three drawer stand, never said a thing about it! They left my brand new sprayer on the outside faucet covered in paint and the hose! There is paint on my leather furniture, my windows other various pieces of furniture! The line they painted where wall and ceilings meet, horrible!!! A two year old could have done a better job! He says your walls are crooked! That's what he calls walls with knockdown on them! Then of course in a lot of places the wall paint is on the ceiling! All over the trim! We could have done it ourselves and did 10 times the job! I made sure I checked his license, but he doesn't do the work! The one guy who acted like he had never held a paint brush before, walked in paint he had spilled and tried to tell me that it was already on my tile floor! He walked on my throw rugs, got it covered in paint! I told him to look on the bottom of his shoes, they were covered in paint!!! I should have fired them right then! It took them 3 days to paint my living dining kitchen combo,1 small Den and laundry room! I am so so angry! They did not properly prep anything! They were suppose to put two coats on and the one they did put on still shows old color all through it on most of the walls!!! PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A SUPPOSE TO BE PROFESSIONAL PAINT JOB!!! STEER CLEAR FROM THIS ONE!!! The price was reasonable but not if the job is done so poorly that you actually have to go behind them and repaint! Not to mention all the things that were ruined!!! I kindly asked him to get me a quart of ceiling paint so we could try and fix the job! That was too much to ask! Yes my house needed painting really bad, but that's no excuse for them to do a poor job and do it so unprofessionally!!! They do not respect anything you have! Don't care what they ruin in the process!!! DO NOT HIRE GARCIA FAMILY CONTRACTORS TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOU!!! You will be very upset, guaranteed!!! He was not even going to leave me any wall paint!!! SAD SO SO SAD!!! Lynn H.

Archer painting did the interior of our home. Work included wallpaper removal and other prep work plus the actual painting. We are pleased with the quality of work and how accommodating Archer painting was to our needs/requests. I think the price charged was reasonable. I would recommend and hire again for future painting needs.

Benjamin and his crew did a great job painting at my house. He was so good, I kept giving him more work. He also painted the beams on my lanai. He is coming back in a couple weeks to paint the trim on my house!! I would highly recommend his company for your work. I would put more pictures out, but I ran out of space.

Dan is currently painting the exterior of my house. I have found him to be honest, extremely sincere and very reasonable. He goes the extra mile to make certain that his client is satisfied with his work. We still have a ways to go but I really appreciate his hard work on my behalf.

Fantastic painter. Had Ron's Painting do the interior and exterior of my home. Honest, professional, detailed oriented, fair, and reasonable. He is licensed as a painter. Watch out for those who are not as they are only handymen and legally cannot paint your home. This company is a licensed painting company.

Jeff is quick very meticulous and neat. He painted the exterior of my house 2 years ago and it still looks like it was done yesterday He obviously uses quality materials. I have had him back to paint the interior of my home and we couldn't be happier with his work. Since his work was so excellent I recommended him to come to my place of business where he has done several repair and painting jobs for me. We found his prices to be fair and reasonable.

I hired Firestone to come fix a stand for my 300 gal aquarium. it was falling apart while still supporting thousands of pounds of glass and water. The owner, Will showed up 2 hours after speaking to him initially and made all necessary repairs and support the next day. I was so impressed, I began asking him about other projects around my home. He needed two days to finish up other projects they were working on, then brought his whole crew to tackle my long list. It took them 3 weeks to complete the following projects: retexture and stain my concrete pool deck, restain wooden decks around the house, complete replacement of all my pool and jacuzzi tile with natural slate stone, new slate stone on my pool deck bar area, repairs to my hardwood interior floors and, stairs, wall mounting four flat screen TVs on swiveling brackets throughout my home, a complete remodel of my upstairs bathroom and, my favorite, next to my pool, they completely remodeled my over the garage room to become a theater. They mounted a Panasonic projector, built a 10 by 12 screen on my wall to eliminate the "projector look", new floors, new texture on walls and ceilings, chair rails and three tone paint throughout. At a price well below anything I would have expected. I loved my home before but, it is now a showpiece that I love to show off to my family and friends. I have used them on several projects since and, have recommended them to everyone I know. So will you.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

    • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
    • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
    • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
    • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
