Honest and reliable! He cleaned out my drain and replaced batteries in my smoke alarms. His price was fair...will hire him again for some painting!

We are pleased with all his work. Re-worked old washer water & drain pipes to come out of a modern box. Looks so much cleaner and is water tight! Also added a refrigerator water shut off valve. Kept us informed of his work status & got approval for his ideas of the fix. We are so pleased with his workmanship, knowledge and pricing, we are getting estimates for 3 other plumbing fixes we need. Quality work at a reasonable price.

Bill was hired to install chicken wire on the roof over the drain pipes. He was professional and did the job in a timely manner. He also took pictures of my roof where I had Cactus growing up there and lots of leaves and some missing shingles. He agreed to come back the next day to take care of those issues, which he did. His prices are also reasonable. Thank you Bill for helping me. I would definitely recommend BDS Maintenance, Inc.

Paul fixed our most annoying kitchen sink problem. He is very responsive and came even on a Sunday to fix the issue I'm having with the slow draining sink. He made sure he fixed the root cause of the issue which was a fully clogged drain pipe. Paul is knowledgeable at what he does, very professional and resonable, would recommend him for any project

Don responded to our request very promptly, and was able to work with our time frame. He arrived on time, was very polite, explained what his plan was to unclog our drain. He was efficient, tidy and very reasonably priced, especially since he came out on a Sunday!!! Highly recommend him, and we plan on using him for our next plumbing need.

Called DP&M Services to unclog a kitchen sink line for me. Talked to Elane. She was courteous and very helpful. She quoted me a price to do the job, which was very fair. I scheduled the appointment and the Technician, Jerry, showed up on time and had my problem drain fixed in quick order. He was professional and cleaned everything up when he was finished. I will be using DP&M again in the future for my plumbing needs. Thanks Elane and Jerry. A job well done.

My sink had been clogged with water for over a day. Jeff was able to fix my clogged sink by snaking it as well as my slow draining master bath. He was efficient, professional, and was able to have my issue resolved the very next day. I will definitely use him for future projects and issues. I would highly recommend him for anyone looking for a reliable handyman/plumber. Thank you Jeff again!

I had a clogged kitchen sink. I have had this issue, ongoing for several years. One person guaranteed that it was going to be fixed. He was one before Paul. Needless to say, they did not. Before that three others. One said it was because my septic tank needed to be cleaned. Did that. Then they said $350 to "blow" out my pipes. $350 an hour! NO!!!! Called in another plumber. He snaked it . 10 minutes later, he says he can't do it and to call someone with electric tools. SMH So in desperation, I finally after days of trying to baby it, and nothing working, I finally decided to try yet again to find, hopefully, what in my mind was a fair, reasonable and honest plumber, I happened onto Thumbtack. Thank you. I filled out the request, and not really expecting much to be honest. Within an hour I received a bid. A very very reasonable price from only one and it was Paul. He offered to come the next morning, which happened to be Labor Day. I did not answer for two days, and after receiving a reminder, I finally agreed, I am so happy that I did. Paul is exactly who I had hoped for...pleasant, professional, fair, reasonable and honest. He came in and started right away with the electric snake. He said he could feel it. He worked with it a while. Then he used the industrial water ram (I had to look it up...lol). All this time he is visually monitoring the flow of water. Waiting for it to whirlpool down the drain. Then, finally, he brought out the handy dandy old-fashioned plumbers' tool...yep, a plunger. He then worked with his body weight to plunge through the rest of the clog he'd broken with his other tools. Finally, THE WHIRLPOOL!! He ran the water several minutes. It has been great to wash dishes all at once. Not having to wash in intervals, waiting for the water to drain. If that wasn't enough, he offered to clean up the mess AND TO put everything back under the sink. I appreciated the offer, but told him that I would do it...happily. I will definitely recommend him to my family and friends. I RECOMMEND HIM TO ANY AND ALL THAT READ THIS REVIEW. THANK YOU PAUL!! THANK YOU THUMBTACK!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

    • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
    • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
    • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
