I am a property manager and thus have a lot of experience with painters on owner's remodels, etc. Thus, when I went to hire a painter for my 4,000 square foot home I had very low expectations. I am used to contractors and repair people being on "island time," and not showing up when they say they will or completing the job quickly.
First Class Painting completely surprised me! They FAR exceeded my expectations (even if I would have had normal or good expectations they would have exceeded them).
They constantly communicated with me and then did what they said they were going to do. They were punctual and even fit me in to accommodate my tight schedule and finished quickly for me. They also did a fantastic job on the paint.
Those would be my normal expectations for any painter though: do what you say you're going to do and do a good job. So here's how they far exceeded that!
One day we came home from being at church and the painters had waited for us to get home so they could get some lunch but not leave the house unlocked (I hadn't even thought to give them a key or something). The owner of the company, Jordan, met us and told us they were heading out for a quick lunch but that they had set the table and cleaned up things a bit so we could have a nice Sunday lunch at home too. I laughed and was about to say, "Did you do my laundry too?" when I looked into my kitchen and saw that he actually had straightened my kitchen and set the table! I was shocked! I have five kids and we are right in the middle of a move, things have been in complete disarray but he had taken the time to put my dirty dishes in the sink and set the table and swept my floors. He said, "I would have mopped but I couldn't find one." Who does that? As a side note, Jordan actually has some really good design sense as well, I had had some centerpiece things out earlier for some staging and the way he staged the table was a way I hadn't thought of and I actually kept it that way afterwards because I liked it so much.
One more time he totally went above and beyond (though I can think of five more but don't want this to be the longest post ever) was when Jordan's guys were finishing things up. Instead of sitting down and taking a rest from painting all day, Jordan came and found me. I was setting up the kids furniture and a brand new kids table I had bought was chipped from our move. He had some white paint with him and I asked him if he'd just dab a bit on the part that had been chunked out. He painted it and then said, "Let me just paint the whole thing so it all matches." Afterwards he said, "My guys aren't done and I have this paint, what else could I touch up?" Mind you, this was not part of the bid, this was touching up places in the house that we hadn't paid for them to paint.
Last of all, they have said several times they would come back and touch up anything. After they were totally done they scheduled a time to come back just to touch up the areas that needed another coat. I just realized there was a patch area that we (the painters and myself) had forgotten needed one more coat when I was taking them through the little things that needed a touch up. I texted Jordan and he immediately called me back and apologized and set up a time to come back again. They live about 30-40 minutes away from me so this is not a quick thing but they obviously care about providing the best job possible!
Okay, one more thing (really this is the last thing and I realized this became the longest post ever), there is a part on one of my walls that had needed repair and it isn't quite perfect yet despite them spending several hours on it. My husband said, "No big deal, we'll put a picture there." However, Jordan said, "Well some day you'll take down that picture and I want it to be as perfect as I can make it." So he is coming back to work on that again too.
It totally pays to have an OCD painter with amazing design sense. In case you can't tell from my very long review, I would hire Jordan and his crew to do anything for me (I wish they did plumbing, electrical, maintenance work, etc. I'd hire them for all of it). He will be my painter from now on and I will recommend him to all my new owners.
