Great golf lesson. In one hour I understood more about the golf swing than 6 month of lessons at Golftec! Very excited to take what I learned out to the golf course. Christian is very professional, very knowledgeable and very personable.

I've been so happy with Tony as an instructor. With no previous experience playing golf, after just three lessons I'm already getting the hang of it. His price is low compared to others, so I can go more often and get better faster. Tony is laid-back and friendly, erasing any fear associated with picking up a new sport. Great guy, great instructor! I posted back in October about how pleased I was with my first few lessons with Tony and his "thoughtless golf" method. Now, months later, I am even more excited about the sport, his lessons, and his method. I have made incredible strides in my golf game and I love how easily I'm learning without over-thinking. "Thoughtless golf" helps me turn off the critic in my head and just enjoy the game (and play better, too!)

Scott is has provided great golf instruction, very patient and does a great job explaining why you have to do something in a certain manner rather than just showing you what to do. Great Instructor!

Glen is a natural golf coach. He is truly a kid at heart and I believe that is the reason why my son has connected with him so well. He has had experience with other golf pros but he said he likes Glen because he is fun. When I watch my son practice, I stand in awe when he hits a great shot. He's only 5 and he really enjoys playing golf.

In all my years of golf lessons, I've never met an individual that was able to help grow my game without forcing his or her ideas on me. She truly has a passion for the game that makes you appreciate the sport more, and is a very patient and knowledgeable golf instructor. I've seen a considerable improvement in my swing, and I go back for lessons twice a year. The results feel almost immediate, and it's only too bad that I can't have her out on the course with me every time I play!

Pete has an excellent grasp of the golf swing fundamentals and can convey them in a very understandable manner. He is an accomplished player himself and can help in all aspects of the game (he helped me improve my putting dramatically). He also focuses on the mental side, which is a significant factor in good play for all levels of students. In addition, Pete's rates for lessons are extremely reasonable and the "bang for the buck" is outstanding.

My team and I developed and integrated techniques of stillness and presence from Martial Arts focus training to deepen an awareness of the mind as it related to Golf performance. About

Golf Instructor for all golfers no matter the skill level or age. I have played golf my whole life and was an all american collegiate golfer. I give lessons over at Inverrary country club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I work on all aspects of the game and GUARANTEE results!!! I make the game very simple and will not try and change your "game" (swing, grip, etc). We will work on making the game as simplistic as possible by taking your swing and improving on it. The golf game today with many instructors is becoming out of hand and way to complicated. Some wanting you to put the game in numbers or turn you into a mechanical robot while taking your money for an hour lesson leaving you hitting the ball worse than you were before. I have such a passion and dedication to see others become better golfers at an affordable price. Nine Five Four Eight six Seven four one five eight.......... Included with the lesson, I will take you out to play holes and do many, many more fun and helpful drills You will also have access to preferred hitting area along with unlimited range balls. If you don't have clubs that is no big deal as I have Adults, Seniors, Women, Juniors and lefty sets. Just please let me know ahead of time and I will work it out. Thanks and I hope to be giving you a lesson here soon. Shane Matthew White.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What makes a good golf instructor?

A good golf instructor is someone who has the playing skill you’d like to achieve, is qualified to teach golf, and is someone you can get along with. Some experts recommend you only take golf lessons from coaches with active accreditation from reputable associations such as the PGA, LPGA, or similar organizations that focus on continuing education. You’ll be spending hours out on the green with the pro during lessons, so a good rapport, strong communication and the right personality fit are key. A proven track record is also important. Read reviews from their current and former students to make sure they have helped people achieve their golfing goals, and always ask about the instructor’s experience before signing on for lessons. Years of providing lessons can contribute to a deeper understanding of how to teach the sport. Just because your friend or partner is great at golf doesn’t mean they’ll give good golf lessons. Invest in a professional golf instructor who knows how to teach the sport from short game to full swing.

How much are golf lessons?

Golf lessons are a great way to break into the sport or take your golf game to a new level. The national average cost for golf lessons is $50-$60, but prices will vary based on what type of lessons you want. The most expensive golf lessons will be private instruction with top-tier coaches. These are golf instructors who have held high professional ranking and have a good reputation. Regardless of who is teaching, private instruction is always more costly than couples’ lessons or small group lessons (usually up to four people). Teachers often offer a lower price per lesson when you buy a package of several lessons at one time. Here are some examples of average golf lesson costs:

  • Individual lessons:
    • Standard pricing for 60-minute private lesson: $60.
    • 60-minute lesson with renowned golf coach: $100.
  • Couples’ lessons:
    • Standard pricing for 90-minute duo lesson: $100.
    • 60-minute lesson with renowned golf coach: $125.
  • Golf lesson package pricing:
    • Purchase six individual lessons at one time and save $10.
    • Purchase 10 individual lessons at one time and save $40.
    • Purchase six couples’ lessons at one time and save $40.
    • Purchase 10 couples’ lessons at one time and save $200.

What age should you start golf lessons?

Golf lessons for kids can start as early as age four or five. They’re too young for formal training, but you can keep them interested and engaged and give them a feel for the game. U.S. Kids Golf recommends starting formal training for junior golfers at six years old. It’s important for young golfers to swing clubs that are the right length and weight for their body; U.S. Kids Golf provides a fitting guide.

Golf lessons for kids, especially young kids, should be about encouraging success rather than correcting mistakes, according to U.S. Kids Golf. If you want your child to love golf for life, you want their early experiences to be positive. Golf lessons for kids are less expensive than golf lessons for adults. A monthly rate (including four lessons) for group golf lessons for kids may average $100. Semi-private golf lessons for kids may range from $150 to $200 per month. Location and instructor reputation can also affect cost. Often, discounts are provided when multiple months are purchased at one time.
