Raffaele was wonderful. He was reliable, honest, thorough and did all the work in one day. He replaced and repaired shower tiles and replaced damaged sheetrock. The price was reasonable and fair. He took pride in his work which is very rare these days. I would recommend him highly and will surely use his services again.

I had a super simple and quick job, Spoke with him at 8pm the night before and he was in my driveway ready to roll at 9am the next morning. Did the job, didn't care how small it was. paid the agreed price and it was done. Doesn't get any better than that. Most of these south florida contractors wont deal with you unless your doing a 25k$ job.

Simon at Dave 21 Plumbing did a great job of re-modelling the master bathroom at my rental property. Very professional, workmanship was very good and accommodated the tenant's wishes at all times. Dave 21 pulled the necessary permit and was successful in getting the building department approvals. They re-routed pipes, installed tile, new tub, shower, vanities and toilet. The master bathroom was transformed into a very modern looking bathroom. I highly recommend Dave 21 Plumbing - ask for Simon.

For replacing a drain under the shower I had a company that refused to deal with it, one that came out and charged my credit card $150 for an estimate that was not done even to this day and then Dr Dre Plumbing who gave me an estimate over the phone, came in time and did the job even as it was difficult.

I had been looking for painters for a rather difficult job and I needed it done ASAP. I needed a 3 bedroom mobile painted that was previously lived in by a heavy smoker, and I needed to have the job done over the weekend. Out of all the contractors that I met, Fabian was the only one that had no issues meeting my needs. Wet met on a Friday and he was at my house the next day on Saturday at 9am. Fabian and his team (Kevin and Alton) were amazing and so professional. The job was done in a day and a half (other contractors said 4 days). They probably would have finished in one day if there weren't any hiccups. Even though there were some issues that arose they were handled professionally and quickly. I found Fabian to be honest and personable and I personally like that in contracters. I Highly, Highly recommend Fabian and his team. You won't be disappointed.

Danny was great. He communicated well and was able to come up with a better solution to my shower mix valve problem than I had expected. He didn't use most of the parts that I bought (was easily able to return them) and instead fixed the unit without having to break any tiles in the shower (the thing I was really worried about - matching the tiles and getting someone to lay them). He was personable, punctual, and professional.

Through the years, I have engaged numerous contractors to do a variety of projects: plumbing, electrical, framing, roofing, flooring, windows, HVAC, etc. I have become completely familiar with disappointment. W&B Construction was able to complete a tile job that was left behind from another contractor. Gabriel actually hit his schedule right on! It was very clear what was included in the contract and what was not. Any questions were resolved immediately. He was knowledgeable, honest, dependable, and really easy to work with. His work ethic is undeniable. I am so thrilled with the work he have done. I can't say enough good things about this company: more importantly about Gabriel. What a pleasure to work with them! I would not hesitate to recommend Gabriel to anyone! If you are looking for a great contractor, If you want high quality construction done the right way, the first time: look no further!! The result was the most professional project I have ever witnessed among the 20+ contractors.

Plumber showed up within a couple hours of calling. Very reasonable price. Job was a little more complicated than expected because of the different size water heater. But the contractor stuck to his originsl bid.

Roberto is very knowledgeable professional. As a retired military man he showed extreme work ethic. Even though we ran into snag related to my house writing, he did not eat or take breaks until he had the job done for me. He teaches and informs you as the home owner and explains the task at hand. Fee was very reasonable and well worth the time and effort. I am typically a skeptic with contractors. I was proven wrong this time. I not only found a great handyman but also a friend. Thanks Roberto!

Will use again! ***** 5 stars. I used another contractor off thumbtack who no showed me....I had worked Christmas night busting up tile, had an appointment set two weeks in advance and I called Mike out of desperation. My pregnant wife was at the in laws, along with my dogs, and I have a huge New Years party with family in from out of town to throw at the house and no tile or carpet in it. It took Mike and his team just two days to lay down 460 square foot of porcelain tile with grout, along with new baseboards. And it looks absolutely incredible. He heard my sob story, showed compassion, and cared about the project and gave me a very good price when he knew I was in a pickle and could have up charged me...but he didn't. I am completely embarrassed I didn't hire him to begin with on this app. Now I know for next time. Easy communication, and they pick up after themselves. Thanks again Mike! The wife and I are absolutely beside ourselves on the incredible job. The New Years party goes on!!

My wife and I really enjoyed working with Joey, he was very professional and knowledgeable. We’ve bought other properties and had inspections before but the report we received from Joey is by far the best. The report included pictures and descriptions of every item tested as well as general pictures helping to show the complete story of the state of the property. An issue was found with the shower and with this detailed support we were able to get a credit from the seller without any issues. In addition to the very detailed report Joey was very timely and flexible to meet our needs. He even cane out a second time to see if the sellers had corrected an issue. All around I would strongly recommend him and hope to have him work with us on other projects.

My husband and I have been wanting a fence for years, but we did not want to spend an arm and a leg on it. We decided to put up a 6-foot shadow box wood and go with an independent contractor as opposed to a big company. Durany was the first to come out and give me an estimate within 24 hours of posting my request here on Thumbtack. I signed the contract, and he gave me a detailed list of items to buy. He began work within a few days, and our fence was up in a week. It is well-built, sturdy, and beautiful.

It was a daily pleasure working with a contractor that had such integrity, honesty. His aim was to make me happy and regardless of what I needed or wanted he was there for me. I do not have enough words to describe his workmanship. He never missed a day until the job was completed. He is truly a 5 star. I would recommend him to anyone and already have.

I called a previously employed contractors named Milan and Son who did a terrible job and destroyed my carpet and bathroom. I had to kick them out of my house. Stay away from Andre and Felix and Antonio. They completely ruined the work. I almost gave up on Thumbtack but I decided to give Thumbtack another chance. So I contacted Rick Ricketts Home Remodeling Repairs. And he came over that same night and took a look at the shoddy work Milan and Son did. Rick said he can correct all the problems and he did a fantastic job. Professional and clean. And he did it for a reasonable price even though there was a lot more work to do. So definitely I would hire Rick again.

Mohammed and his team were hired to do a interior build out for my restaurant. He was able to perform his work after hours so my business doesn’t get interrupted. All the moving parts of the project were managed on time and professionally. Rapid Construction managed the hiring of all the subcontractors, plumber, electirican and AC guy so all I had to do was write the check. I had no problems or delays during the process other than the city that took too long to issue the permits. I’m looking toward to hiring them again for my next location.

How do I plan a bathroom remodeling project?

If you’re stumped on how to plan a bathroom remodeling project, it pays to hire a designer. This is especially important if you’re changing your bathroom layout in any way. Designers create contractor-friendly drawings indicating exactly where each tile and fixture will be installed, down to the light switches. This investment might cost you $300-$500 but save you significant frustration and miscommunication, while ensuring you get precisely what you want.

If you’re going to do your own design, planning a bathroom remodeling project means being organized and planning ahead. Create a general outline of what you want and the budget you have. Identify the specific fixtures, tiles, paint and vanity you prefer. Get all this organized before requesting quotes from two to three reputable general contractors. Once you find the right pro, get a written contract outlining scope of work, materials that will be used, timeframe and payment schedule. Communicate clearly about when to order your materials so they are ready and waiting by the time the contractor gets the permits. Your job from here is to communicate clearly, pay the contractor as the work progresses, and enjoy your remodel when it’s done.

Where should I start when remodeling a bathroom?

Bathroom remodeling doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Before starting a bathroom remodel it’s crucial to know what you want and have a clear understanding of your maximum budget. If you’d love all marble fixtures but have $3,000 total, you will have to compromise. Being realistic about materials and money before you even contact a contractor will have you on the road to success. Here are some simple steps to follow in the planning stages of bathroom remodeling:

  • List your remodeling priorities in order of importance (e.g., 1. New shower head, 2. Replace flooring, 3. Install recessed lighting, etc.).
  • Calculate what you can realistically afford to spend on your bathroom remodel. Identify an “all in” price — meaning the absolute maximum you’re willing to pay, as well as what you’d prefer to spend.
  • Gather ideas from Pinterest about colors and finishes.
  • Research the costs of the materials and finishes you want and begin making choices about what is and isn’t possible to fit into your budget (once labor is included). If you’d like to stay under $10,000 total, but really love a $2,000 tub, plan to downgrade in other areas.
  • Request quotes from at least three reputable general contractors, share your vision and ideal materials, and work together from there.

How long should a bathroom remodel take?

With proper planning and a good general contractor, your bathroom remodeling project doesn’t have to take forever. The construction phase of the project will always vary based on your scope of work, the square footage and the condition of your bathroom under the surface layer. Inevitably an 80-square-foot master bathroom with major changes will take longer than a 25-square-foot guest bath undergoing a minor renovation. For a smaller bathroom, a facelift — the industry term for sprucing up the surface layer (such as paint, vanity, tiles or light fixtures) but keeping the existing footprint of the space — may take five to eight working days, as long as there are no surprises like mold waiting when the old vanity comes out. A more complex bathroom remodel that revamps the shower area (customizing the plumbing, installing tile and changing the shower door), updates the flooring and cabinetry, and adds new paint and new lighting could take anywhere from one week to three weeks. A full bathroom remodel that guts the room, changing the footprint and moving the electrical wiring and plumbing lines, could take four to eight weeks or more. To keep your bathroom remodel on schedule, have your materials ordered and waiting, and don’t make any change orders once construction begins. Planning is key to keeping a bathroom remodel on schedule.

How much does it cost to remodel a bathroom?

Nationally, the average cost of bathroom remodeling is $14,000. Bathroom remodels can vary widely, from standard makeovers to luxurious master bathroom revamps. The factors that affect your bathroom remodeling cost are the finishes you choose (marble tiles can cost 20 times as much as standard subway tiles), the square footage of the project, regional labor rates in your area and the scope of work. Changing the layout or size of the bathroom will also raise costs. Moving electrical wiring and plumbing lines will also dramatically increase costs, as you’ll need to hire plumbers and electricians to handle the work. What’s happening behind your walls and under your floor will also affect bathroom remodeling cost: Rot, damage or mold can lead to additional work and charges. Overall, bathroom remodeling may offer great return on investment and also improve your daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom remodeling costs:

  • 6-foot by 6-foot bathroom remodel: $3,500, including labor and materials.
  • Standard renovation: $6,500-$10,000. Price includes labor and materials the customer has purchased. Labor may include taking out the shower and shower pan, installing new shower pan and shower, and installing new door, new vanity, new mirror, new bathroom fan, and all new fixtures.
    • Price variation depends on the quality of the finishes.
  • 10-foot by 6-foot bathroom remodel: $7,200, including labor and materials.
  • Mid-range renovation: $12,000-$15,000. Price includes labor and materials the customer has purchased.
  • Upscale renovation: $35,000 and up. Price includes labor and materials. Items might include digital displays for fixtures, multiple shower heads and custom showers.

How do I remodel my bathroom?

Bathroom remodeling is made up of three general phases. The first phase is the planning and permitting phase, in which you determine exactly what you want, what materials and finishes will be used, and what the end product will look like. If you’re competent with design you can handle the planning yourself, or you may hire an interior designer to guide you. During this phase you’ll also hire a general contractor who can help execute your remodel vision, coordinating and overseeing all the subcontractors required to do the bathroom remodeling (plumbers, flooring pros, etc.). When your plan is finalized, your contractor should obtain permits for the work you want done. During this time you’ll work together to order all the materials so they’ll be ready and waiting when it’s time to start construction.

The second phase is construction. Bathroom remodeling typically starts with demolition, removing the old floors, shower and vanity to make way for the new. Delays in delivery of materials, or changing your mind and ordering different materials halfway into the project, will mean that construction has to pause until the new materials arrive. Each subcontractor is dependent on the next to do their work, and the general contractor should keep things moving along at the proper timeline, ensuring that the right materials are available and dealing promptly with any unexpected repairs, such as damage discovered behind the walls or under the floor. The general contractor will also coordinate inspections from the necessary officials if you’ve moved load-bearing walls or done electrical or plumbing work. After construction is complete, the final phase of bathroom remodeling is addressing your punch list. These are all the items that need to be corrected before final payment is handed over to the contractor.
