After reading the reviews i decided to hire him and we set a time. He arrived on time and began to set up. Inspecring the attic and ac components actually giving me ideas on what to repair later or on my own. He then began to work deodorizing and cleaning the vents. I was skeptable about the process but after he was done it really worked. The house was cooler the vents were cleaner and blew much stronger. Im definatelt going to recommend him to other family and friends ans ill use him again on other projects.

Yalel arrived in time. He removed water leaking of AC by cleaning the drain and installed a water detector to prevent in the future water leaking caused by clog using automatic switch-off of the AC. Good job!

I had a great experience with Yonier. I hired him to fix an issue with my water heater (it was tripping my breaker). I'm going to make this long ordeal relatively short. During the initial visit, Yonier determined the water heater was a lemon. My water heater is less than a year old. After contacting Rheem, the rep refused to accept the fact that the water heater was a lemon. So, the rep at Rheem had Yonier run some additional tests and the Rheem rep determined that the thermostat was damaged. (Someone who reads a script from a computer screen supposedly knows more than an electrician, apparently.) Yonier was very patient and kind enough to go through this process. I commend him because I considered his diagnosis more reliable than Rheem. Well, fast forward a few days... New thermostat arrives and I asked Yonier to come out to install it. Guess, what? The water heater was STILL not working and still tripping the breaker. Surprised, right? This was definitely no fault of Yonier. This was the fault of the manufacturer--Rheem's inability to acknowledge that they sold a poor quality water heater. Yonier patiently waited for me to contact Rheem AGAIN and wait on hold. Yonier explained the issue to the rep and after much back and forth, Rheem finally decided to replace the water heater. I'm grateful that he was willing to stick around to explain the issue ONCE AGAIN to Rheem--that the water heater was a lemon. Yonier was VERY, VERY, VERY patient and very reliable. My initial request was on a Sunday (and we all know how difficult it is to find a contractor, especially an electrician, to respond on a Sunday). He showed up both days in a timely fashion and worked diligently to figure out the issue. Although the water heater issue was beyond Yonier's control, I appreciate the time and effort he spent in pinpointing and explaining the issue. Without him, I would not have been able to get Rheem to replace their faulty item. I did have him perform another job for me (outlet work). That job was clean and quick. He is reasonably priced. Thank you, again, Yonier.

They were prompt and finish quickly almost to quickly because they left a little bit of a mess behind. we had to call about an hour after they left because the unit stopped working. The drain was not properly angled so the water was not draining but the technician that came was great and fixed it. Overall I would recommend all year cooling to my friends and family

Kevin responded to my inquiry right away and was able to come over within the hour. Once he arrived he explained everything he was doing, made necessary repairs and educated me about things I can do in the future to optimize our A/C. Today, our house is noticeably cooler thanks to Kevin.

Showed up on time to check out our AC unit. Our unit was not cooling down the house. Shalom diagnosed the issue and recommended putting in a refurbished unit that helped save cost. He installed the unit next day and communicated when the job was done as well as sending a picture of the completed work. Very good work overall.

I highly recommend Cool Air Supply and will use them on my future needs. Honest, reliable, dependable professional and I could go on and on. I have used another local service for 15 years and they tried to sell me a whole new unit , something I didn't need. Called Cool Air and they came out quickly and on time and fixed it for $160 versus the $2695 the other major local company was telling me I needed. They could have made more money off of me but were very honest and only sold me what I needed. I highly recommend Cool Air Supply and will certainly use them in the future.

Jeremy was at my house to give me an estimate within 4 hours of his on line quote. It was a competitive quote with real #'s per sq feet with a picture of the insulation he uses. When he was in my attic he noticed that my air conditioning Tray was overflowing with water. No $ and no job confirmed, he spent an hour up there sweating in 135° heat fixing my problem!! The art of customer service is not lost on him . I confirmed he got the job. He had his guys show up ... Joey and another super nice guy bright and early the next day! They immediately set up their equipment with nothing but smile's . Joey was an absolute dream. He was super kind with my nosey toddlers and smiled the entire time . (As a woman alone, that was super reassuring) within an hour the job was done ! He borrowed my vacuum to clean up the mess upstairs even though I told him I would do it. He said he felt more comfortable doing it himself for me. A valuable asset if you've ever had work done and spent the rest of the day cleaning up after workers leave. My house is at least 10° cooler since they put the insulation in !!! The boys left with a smile and a handshake I couldn't be happier . THEN, I get a text from Jeremy ensuring that the job was satisfactory . I couldn't be happier! From soup to nuts this company is professional, kind and most of all..... the right price! If you want proper service with no gimmicks and no hassle AND the right price, look no further . Don't waste your time! Hire them. You will NOT be disappointed! Amazing! Thank you boys ! Forever your customer Buffy Pagano

Mike came to the house to measure our room for a floor installation, baseboard installation and the install of a new door. He was on time, professional, and very well spoken. Once he had the measurements, we agreed on a fair price and he gave us a written quote with a list of items we needed to buy in order for him to complete the job. We then scheduled the installation which he said would take 2 days. On installation day, Mike showed up with his crew on time and quickly began work. His work is skilled, quick, and very professional. You can tell he has done a million of these floors. He is a craftsman. The job was done as scheduled, within 2 days. Overall, I highly recommend doing business with Mike. He is a real pro, a good guy, and very easy to communicate with... He promptly answers each call or text (something so rare today). Easy decision, I'd use him again and recommend him with ease. He goes the extra mile to do it right. Thanks, Mike!

Had to completely replace a 50g water heater which was leaking. Efren came out to my house on one days notice. He was on time and explained the problem. He installed an new 50g water heater and did a great job without and issues afterwards. Efren cleaned up the mess caused by the leaking water heater and submitted the factory warranty for me. He also hauled away the old water heater for me. I highly recommend this company for their professionalism and reasonable prices . They did a great job!

This company provides very quick and good service, they are very responsive, and professional, they made the process of purchasing and installing and new air conditioning very easy for me, I had no idea what would be my best option, I wanted a good brand that last but I wanted a good price. They gave me different options and explained the differences, I finally was able to choose the right unit, and ended up saving a lot on electricity. I recommend them to anyone looking for an AC company. Very good.!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is an HVAC system?

The letters in HVAC stand for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. An HVAC system enables you to regulate your home or building’s internal temperature (thermal control) for comfortable living and working. You can bring heat levels down in the summer and up in the winter, keeping your home or office livable year-round. HVAC systems can also help with humidity levels and regulate indoor air quality in a home or office. There are many types of HVAC systems and technologies available.

Many homes have a forced-air HVAC system. Both the heating and the central air conditioning units share a ductwork system where they either push in or pull out warm or cooled air. There are also heating and cooling systems that don’t require ductwork — such as ductless mini-splits — but work on the same principles of heat exchange. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670, with costs varying depending on the work you need done and the equipment you are installing.

How many years does HVAC last?

The number of years an HVAC system lasts depend on the type and brand of components that make up your system. The lifespan of an air conditioner averages between 15 and 20 years. The life expectancy of a tankless water heater is approximately 20 years, while a storage water heater is closer to 10-15 years. Ducts may need replacing within 10-15 years. Your equipment will have a longer life if you have regular tuneups and maintenance to keep everything in good working order. If you’re having repair problems and your HVAC system is over 10 years old, it’s a good time to consider the costs and benefits of repairing vs. replacing. Energystar.gov provides the following tips to help you decide whether to repair or replace:

  • Your HVAC system needs frequent repairs and your energy bills are increasing.
  • Your cooling or heating equipment is less efficient.
  • Rooms in your home are too hot or too cold.
  • Your heat pump or air conditioner is more than 10 years old.
    • Replacing your system with an Energy Star-certified unit could save up to 20 percent on your heating and cooling bills.
  • Your furnace or boiler is more than 15 years old.
    • You may choose to replace your system with an Energy Star-certified furnace (which is 15 percent more efficient than a conventional furnace) or an Energy Star-certified boiler (which is 5 percent more efficient).
  • Your home has humidity problems.
  • Your home has excessive dust.
    • Leaky ducts can pull particles and air from attics, crawl spaces and basements and distribute them throughout your house. Sealing your ducts may be a solution.
  • Your heating or cooling system is noisy.
    • You could have an undersized duct system or a problem with the indoor coil of your cooling equipment.
  • Your score on the Home Energy Yardstick is below five.
    • That means your home energy use is above average and you're probably paying too much for your utilities.

How much does it cost to get central air?

Prices for central-air HVAC systems will vary. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670 but can run as high as $5,000 or even $12,000 depending on the capacity you need and other factors. Installing central air conditioning requires an entire system that works together to draw hot air out of your home. The system includes an outdoor unit, which houses the condenser and compressor, and the evaporator coils. If you don’t have an existing duct system, ductwork will need to be installed, which will affect labor and material costs. Leaking or damaged ducts will also need to be replaced.

How much does it cost for a new air conditioning unit?

If you’re ready for a new air conditioning unit, it’s time to start exploring HVAC prices. The price will vary depending on the type of air conditioner you buy and its cooling capacity. Window units, which require minimal installation, are one of the most affordable options on the market. If you’re purchasing from a big-box store, you can expect to pay approximately $120-$1,000 for a window unit. Window units are appealing for their quick setup and relatively low cost, but they can use more energy over time than central air and only cool the room in which they’re installed. Portable air conditioners don’t have the cooling power of a window unit, but they do have the perk of being transportable from room to room. Expect to pay between $225 and $800 for a portable air conditioner, on average. For a whole-house air conditioning system with coils, condenser and line (not including installation or ductwork), the cost from a big-box store can range from approximately $2,000 to $4,000 or more. If you don’t have (and don’t want to put in) ducts, a ductless mini-split air conditioner is a good option, although pricey up front. Pricing can range from $650 to $4,250 per unit on average; you’ll need one unit for each room in which you want temperature control.
