Ashley was (literally) "gifted" to us by a beautiful friend that knew our budget was hindering our ability to hire a professional photographer. While we knew what a blessing this was, we did not know the extent until (late to our own pre-wedding photo appt.) arriving at the church and seeing her beautiful smile, hearing the excitement in her voice (as if we had known each other for years and she was thrilled to be part of my big day), and immediately feeling her uber-relaxed, go with the flow vibe. Ashley made us feel so comfortable from the first moment. She respected our desire to not have an overabundance of posed pics that took up so much time, but knew when to go ahead and give her opinion, arranging key players in poses she just knew we would want to have. So thankful for this, as I was definitely a bride without a solid plan! The photos (especially for being so rushed that day, at no fault of the photog!) are of excellent quality, great composition. I love the emotion she captured, special moments, etc. Great shots of wedding party, performers and guests. But perhaps above all else, Ashley was the perfect blend of professionalism and playfulness. She was not the stereotypical stressy, pushy wedding photographer at ALL. Unobtrusive but effective. SO fun. I joked with Ahley within moments of meeting her, and again throughout the evening, that she was my new BFF...but I would be so naive to think that I am the first and only bride to feel this way. ;) Sigh. In conclusion, yes, I would definitely recommend her to anyone, for any occasion needing real life, well rounded documentation to cherish for a lifetime.

We hired Ashley to shoot both our Maternity portraits as well as our first Family Holiday portraits. She was so incredibly easy to work with, professional, and flexible with our schedules. (Not to mention she was so patient with me, as a big pregnant lady AND as a new mom with our colicky newborn baby!) For our Maternity shoot, she met us in Seaside, where she spent what seemed like the entire day with us! Her friendly, easy-going personality made us feel so at ease the whole time. She was directive enough that she helped us "pose" without feeling posed. She was willing to speak directly with local business owners to get permission to shoot in their businesses. She even sat down with us and had lunch--by the end of the day she felt like an old friend. Once baby was born, we happily hired her again for our first Family Holiday portraits. She met us in Pensacola for this shoot. She was just as flexible and easy to work with as before. She captured so many great shots of our family. (I was worried, because we had a colicky baby who never stopped crying--you couldn't tell in any of the photos!!) We would absolutely hire her again to document all of our growing family's milestones, but we sadly moved away from the local area!!! I would HIGHLY recommend Ashley Livingston to be your family's photographer.

The photography was absolutely, 100% the most important part of our wedding to me. I'm an unapologetic picture snob and I literally spent months browsing through online galleries, trying to find a photographer whose style and vibe appealed to me. I found photographers whose work I adored but whom I politely declined to hire after a phone call and/or initial meeting, simply because I felt like I needed to have some sort of connection and ease with the person who would be capturing such a monumental day for us. It was THAT important to me. When I found Ashley and gave her a call, I immediately knew it was a match. Not only is her photography absolutely stunning - seriously, my wedding was in 2010 and people are STILL talking about the pictures and asking who did them! - but she has an inviting warmth about her that is very rare to find. My husband is like a lot of guys out there and is a reluctant picture participant; he usually feels awkward and forced in front of the camera, which is a challenge for any photographer. Ashley is so personable and easy to be around that he was actually able to relax and be himself, and our pictures reflect that. There was no pressure, no forced poses, no awkwardness; it was just us, having fun and being silly, and she expertly created a masterpiece out of those simple moments. She also was AMAZING at being non-intrusive and getting candid shots - we have so many of us where we had caught each otherâs eyes and were laughing or sharing an inside joke, and she captured that energy and love from afar without us even realizing she was shooting. Out of all of our wedding pictures, those sweet candid moments are my favorite and are exactly why sheâs the best.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always reading and learning from other photographers. Working with other creative people in my industry keeps me fresh and inventive.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I just loved taking pictures and more and more people started telling me I had a real eye for it. So I teamed up with other professionals and learned form them as I developed my own style.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have a definite emphasis on "lifestyle" photography. I see it as a blend of portraits and photojournalism. I pose my clients loosely and then let them interact as naturally as possible. No babies in baskets or hanging from hobo sticks over here! ;) I love those images but I'd rather capture your family in real moments that will have a truly lasting memory of how life is during this period of your lives.
