"Jesus Faxas is an excellent therapist. He was able to get me an appointment on a very short notice. I appreciate his ability to communicate and make you feel at ease. He is extremely knowledgeable and knows how to relief your aches and pains. His massage was not only therapeutic but very relaxing. I highly recommend Jesus to my family, friends and anyone who needs healing hands. I am looking forward to my next appointment and try other modalities. Thank you Jesus. Kudos!!!"

"This is by far the absolute best massage I've had since moving to FL 8 months ago. Everything about it from start to finish was top notch! His professionalism, courtesy, technique, everything was awesome! His technique was different then I've had in the past, prob close to 200 massages over the last 10 years, and it allowed me to move and feel better than I've felt in ages. Thanks Willie, you rock!!"

"Before I came to Sarah I was in a lot of physical pain and stressed. After my first session I could definitely tell the difference. I felt so much relief. I’ve been coming back ever since and not only has my physical pain gotten so much better but she has such a relaxing touch. Don’t get me started on the atmosphere when you walk into the room. Definitely recommend to everyone."

"My first massage with Heidi . Although she just recently received her license, you would never know it from the quality of her work. I have cronic back and neck issues which she did an incredible job of relieving. She used deep therapeutic pressure where needed (but always asked if it was too much.) She was professional, attentive and, most of all, has an uplifting spirit which made for a memorable 90 minutes. Highly recommend."

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
