Teddy and his team were amazing during the entire process. They made time to come out on a Saturday morning for an estimate and worked around our schedule to have the work done. Their price was fair and they were done with the work earlier than expected. I am so thankful for the work they did as my front gardens look amazing now! I look forward to having Teddy and his team back in the future for other projects.

Derek showed up immediately! He was professional, friendly with a 'get the job done right' attitude and very reasonable in his pricing. He was willing to work with me on specific needs involving my mature palms, too. It's been a wonderful start to our garden business relationship.

Justin dug up several shrubs and plants that I didn't want in my garden, planted some croton petras, a Pygmy date palm and some Hawaiian Ti plants for me. He was friendly, professional and took time to patiently answer all of my questions. Will definitely have him back for phase 2 of my garden make-over. :)

I am DELIGHTED with the work Mario and his crew did with our home. It had been uninhabited for several months, and badly neglected for at least a year prior to that, and with one visit Mario, his dad, and his crew made the front of our home look like a lovingly-cared for residence again. It was such an amazing transformation we've asked Mario to come back and work the same magic for the side and back garden/lawn areas. I am THRILLED to be Mario's customer, and look forward to working with him going forward to really bring the beauty of our little home to shine... : )

I had interviewed 2 other companies. I liked his approach to the issues I had with my exotic fountain. They came in just a few days of the call to complete the job after inspecting the site earlier in the same week. The lighting I felt was way to too bright but that is the lowest wattage in the LED. So, I made my own diffuser with a heavy glass beaded glass bottomed candle holder. It looks beautiful on one of the spot lights. They did come back to inspect the balance for me after the earth and fountain had settled. I'm very happy to have my lady crying wet tears again in the garden. She is magical looking at night. They got everything done in one day, on time and completed by both of them insisting on staying late to finish. I appreciate that work ethic very much.

Andrew gave us a very clear estimate and completed all the work as he said he would. Very professional and kept to all his appointments. His assistant Dustin was very pleasant and a hard worker. Could not be more pleased with the results. We have decided to have him for regularly scheduled maintenance to keep the garden looking beautiful.

Johnathan has been working on our large lot for over a week now. He demolished an old singlewide Mobil home, cleaned up the lot from junk and old debri, and added a small shade cover over the side of a shed. He also installed a screen door. He is very respectfull and pleasant to work with. The rates he quoted were very reasonable compared to the other quotes I received. I will definitely hire him again as other projects are needed on our property.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
