FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing every client does is sit down with me and discuss specific goals and timelines. We talk about the "why's", the "how's" and "how long's". I prefer to establish realistic goals, both short term and long term.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always learning from wherever I can find helpful information. I also do continued education through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) each year. I never strop striving to be the best source of information and results for my clients.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My career began actually working on my own health and weight challenges. All through High School I played just about every sport that had a uniform and was always active. Between my junior and senior years I would have the first of what would be multiple ankle surgeries. Due to improper growth from birth my ankles we able to be repaired enough to allow me to do most things but did limit many athletic activities. My goal up to this point was to play professional baseball or basketball. From about age 24 37 I allowed my weight and health to get completely out of control and found myself tipping the scales at 300 pounds. I really think I hit rock bottom when one of my children made a comment one night saying Hey look, Daddy is on TV. As we all looked to see what she was talking about, it was a cartoon character of a stuffed potato on a couch eating chips and drinking a huge soda. While we all had a good laugh about it at the time, later that evening I sobbed thinking about how far out of control I allowed myself to get and maybe even more important the fact that my child associated that image with her father what a terrible example I was setting. I truly believe my life took its first turn in the right direction when I discovered the power of aligning myself with experienced mentors people who had achieved success in their lives and were willing to teach me how to properly create a realistic plan to get my health back on track and the necessary steps to prevent myself from ever going back again. In 2010 I met someone who would forever change my life. It was the first time I had ever experienced a personal trainer or even what it really meant to have a workout with a goal. Not just to beast up or get jacked but truly reconstruct my body from the inside out. My trainer taught me about exercise mechanics, program designs and that nutrition was just as, if not more than, important than all of it. Over the course of the next 4 years I set out on a journey to get myself back to where I once was. I remember someone asking me, How much weight do you want to lose? and I remember my reply was, I just dont want to be able to take my shirt off at the beach with confidence. My journey did not happen without setback and struggles but through it all I dropped over 100 pounds, discovered myself again and learned that it is not something you do with a deadline but instead a way of life you must chose to commit to.
