Lee did an excellent job at accessing and completing the repairs I needed on my roof. He was punctual and completed the work efficiently. Having worked on Florida roofs for many years, I felt very comfortable with having Lee complete my repairs. In addition to resealing sections of my roof to prevent future leaks, he completely replaced Facia and trim, and installed a gutter. I would definitely recommend Lee to anyone looking for roofing repairs at a reasonable price.

Master Florida, Luke McConnell, delivered an excellent mechanical (aluminum) roof for our beach cottage. Luke's team removed and refinished our roof on the schedule promised. The crew cleaned up ALL the mess associated with a re-roof. I recommend Master Florida for a quality job, great price and excellent service all-the-while communicating progress of materials, manpower and permitting process. Thanks for an excellent job

Hi, Chris, insulated the outer walls in my attic, installed a soffit vent, 2 100" panel track window treatments, 2 shades totaling 100", reinforced and insulated two openings in the outside of my villa, cleaned my dryer vent, moved the insulation covering the soffit vents in 7 hours. And was clean, neat and so very knowledgeable. I am truly impressed with his work and his work ethic. He is my extra set of hands. Thank you Chris for a job well done. Chris said he was going to be at my home at 8am and was there at 7:45. So unusual in this day. I have had to wait hours for people to show or worse yet not show.

Randy ROCKS!! Having to clean out my fathers house after he passed was a daunting task. Between charities and junk remocal companies and figuring out who takes what was almost impossible. Some charities don't take matteresses for example, junk companies and dumpsters don't take paint, etc. Randy took EVERYTHING. He has some charities he works with. He was my one stop shop. Communication was on point. Called when he said he would and showed up when he said he would. I was also in a bit of a time crunch so he bounced his schedule around to accommodate me ASAP. His price was great and too even good to pass up. When I handed him a little extra for the amazing job and really going above and beyond for me, he almost didn't want to accept it. He showed up with his wife and son one day and his son and daughter the next. They were all extremely friendly and polite. I didn't use him for his handyman or roofing skills, but if I needed any of that done, he'd be the first person I'd call. Bottom line: Highly recommended. Thanks Randy for helping with the very sad and stressful situation and making my clean out so much easier. -Aaron in PSL via Boston.

Let me begin by saying, if I needed another roof, I would hire Andy the Roofer again. The owner, Richard Trachuk is a person of his word. He handled my concerns and questions promptly, paperwork was in order, runs his own crew and cares about his work and reputation. This was not the lowest or most expensive quote but after doing my due diligence it was the best. He demonstrated great knowledge of different materials, shingle, metal, sky lights and paid attention to my preferences. He followed up to earn my business, gave good information and guidance when asked. I purposely waited to write my review and am pleased to say the performance of the roof and skylights has been flawless. I chose Owens Corning Duration Asphalt shingle with peel and stick underlay. It was a tough choice because he also gave a good quote for 24 gauge metal roof with coating of my choice for energy efficiency, exposed fastener (I did not want concealed because of what the building inspector said) was tough to pass up. The only issue I had is with their tidiness, it seemed to be specific to one roofer. The only change Is I would ask Richard to tell the specific roofer not pitch things over his shoulder. Thank you Richard for great customer and a beautiful roof.

Ryan and his team are not only the most professional roofing and construction team we have worked with, they are dependable. 10 years of living in our home, it was time to replace our roof. we turned to Champion to put a new metal roof on our home. Each day before leaving they walked around the perimeter of our home making sure they picked up all nails and trash, knowing we have a Lab that goes outside, and they made sure there was nothing left behind for her to step on. They are caring people, and do the highest quality of work. We wouldn't consider using any other company for our needs.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
