We had him do plumbing, electrical, and appliance installation. He was very thorough, making sure everything was perfect. Did not leave until the job was done right. Would highly recommend him.

As snowbirds, more than 1500 miles away, we needed to find an appliance repair service quickly for a broken refrigerator. Always reluctant to just look up someone online, we took a chance with InCity Appliance Repair and were very satisfied. "Tony" called and explained what had to be done, returned promptly and completed the repair at a fair price. We'll definitely use use them again when needed. Highly recommended!

He took the time to explain everything and showed me what he was doing. He responded very quickly, was very polite, and had my washer up and running in the same day. Smart Tech was the first to respond to my request and with the lowest service rate. The technician was polite and knowledgeable. He ordered a needed part for my dryer and returned on the promised day. The dryer is working like new. I recommend Smart Tech for home appliance service and repair.

Ultimate Appliance repaired my dishwasher in a very professional manner. When the first repair did not work they returned the following day with a different part. They installed the new part without any extra charge. This impressed me. Will use them again if any other appliance breaks.

Just a few minutes after I submitted my request they contacted me and immediately started finding out what I needed. They sent out a tech the very next day to inspect my refrigerator. Upon inspection the inspector knew exactly what needed to be done and quoted me a very reasonable price. The work was done on time and professionally. I highly recommend this company for any kind of appliance repairs.

I have not used Thumbtack before and the whole experience was great! Came home from vacation to find our Kitchenaid built-in refrigerator was not cooling. It’s 18 yrs old so knew we could potentially have bad news=meaning time to buy a new refrigerator for $8-10k. David quickly responded to my request on a Sat morning and then my call. Gave him the refrigerator model number and he stopped at the parts store before he arrived so that he would have all that he might need to repair the refrig. Thankfully what he thought the problem was right and within 20 mins he had the new part installed all for under $200.00. I was thrilled! Overall the experience was great! Prompt, professional service for a fair price. Will definitely call Beach Breeze Appliance Repair again.

The Appliance Repairman, Mike, has diagnosed and repaired many items in our home including our fridge, dishwasher, and toaster oven. His communication style was pleasant and professional as was his attitude on the phone. The cost of repair was reasonable for the time and materials provided. A big thumbs-up to this local business. The technician was on time and completed his work quickly, but without rushing. I would absolutely recommend him for any appliance repair you need. Will use again.

Great job! One of our tenants had a pilot light out on their water heater and was unable to get it re-lit. Your Repair Specialist coordinated the time with the tenant, came out the same day, diagnosed the issue, and repaired it all within the service call timeline! They made this an easy problem to fix which is good because I was 1,000mi from the issue. Matt

I have been using Masco for about ten years or so. They are absolutely top notch. On one of their visits they were out to repair my stovetop. Before the technician left, he looked at my new side by side and told me he wanted to check something. He checked the manufacturer's label and then informed me that there was a recall on the freezer side door. Even though I hadn't been having any trouble with it, he told me he could replace it while the recall was still in effect just to avoid having to pay for any future problems that might arise. He did this at no cost to me. And when the new door came, complete with a new ice dispenser, he told me to keep the old ice dispenser in the event I would ever need to replace it as they are fairly expensive. I have always been very impressed with this company, they're reliable, timely and fair.

It always happens when the temperature breaks a record high. On the hottest day my air conditioner decided to stop working. I called Joseph Air Conditioning & Appliance and they were able to squeeze me in that evening. Ronel came ahead of time - calling to make sure it was okay with me - and had it working in no time. It was repaired on the spot for a reasonable price. I was very satisfied with the service and will be sure to use Joseph Air Conditioning & Appliance in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
