I have long admired Sam Pacetti's musicianship, but last year I started taking semi-regular guitar lessons with him. I've played since I was fifteen, but like many, I had plateaued and played mostly the same music in the same ways for years. We have focused on improving my finger-picking techniques. Sam has helped me get back to the basics that I never learned with plenty of helpful suggestions to make me more deliberate and consistent. It's a big project, not something I'll ever conclude, but Sam has helped me improve as an amateur guitar player, and that has made me appreciate the joys I get doing this more each time we meet.Feb 10, 2020
I met Sam Pacetti through a family member. He is a phenomenal player and I was amazed watching him play as I listened for the first time. I was stunned. He was obviously a world-class guitarist and musician. At the same time, he's very humble and has a great sense of humor. I have been playing for over 40 years and had always wanted to learn finger-style guitar but also just get past where I had been as a player for too long. Who better than Sam? I was really honored to actually take lessons from him. Not only does he teach mechanics and technique, etc., but also awareness of your whole body as you play—posture, position, pressure, breathing-- and it all paid off so completely. Working with Sam helped me change the way I play. No pain, no cramped fingers and hands, and so much more comfortable with the instrument. Beautiful tone! Clean sounding notes! I now play with great satisfaction and usually play every day for at least 90 minutes. What once seemed impossible, I now play without much effort. Best music teacher I've ever had. If you have the opportunity, have him teach you.Feb 12, 2020
We thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Absolutely wonderful musician who delivered a performance perfectly tailored to the audience. Definitely recommend.Apr 17, 2020Verified
Sam is an excellent player and teacher. When the student can get both, it's the best. Sam explains well and demonstrates excellence to the level of my capacities. He wants me to work but not push or strain. I am excited to learn with Sam as my guide.Feb 10, 2020
Sam is a great teacher as well as a gifted musician and performer. I started lessons last year as a much older and totally beginner student. One year into retirement, I needed a new challenge and decided to take guitar lessons. Learning guitar is an ongoing journey for me and one which I enjoy as Sam is a very patient and positive teacher as well as being very knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone seeking to learn guitar.Feb 7, 2020
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I attempt to make my prices flexible depending on a students financial situation. Base price is usually $40 per half hr and $50 for an hr. if traveling to a student (outside of St Augustine) though within the N.E. FL area, price is slightly increased to $60-75 per lesson.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to work with each individual and tailor the approach we take to their needs. With beginning students a common approach is used to work on left/right hand technique, strength, flexibility etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've been playing guitar since age 11, and have been a professional touring musician since age 20. Potential students can view my website sampacetti.com to learn more, or view some of my videos on YouTube.com to get a better sense of the styles I play. I've taught professionally since 2008.
