FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The seminars I teach most often are Stop Assault FAST and the ABCs of FAST Self Defense. I've recently taught at Eckerd College and Stetson College of Law. The most common self defense workshop or seminar I teach is 1 1/2 - 2 hours long.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If you're looking to hire someone like myself- first Google them and see if they come up in the listings. Also, contact them about what you're looking for and any goals or reasons you and see if they offer it. Be sure you feel comfortable with their personality as well as what they have to offer you.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
That not all self defense instructors are created equal. It's important to find someone who isn't stuck teaching just physical self-defense. Realistic self defense should include assertiveness training, how to stay in control and deal with fear or adrenaline you'd feel in a real situation and focus on conflict resolution before teaching you to physical fight. And yes, physical defense should be included- but using realistic scenarios.
