Brian was ready to resolve my problem right away and in doing so, also fixed my roof, replaced some outdoor lights and fixed my garage door. He is very handy, friendly and detailed oriented. I will hire him anyday again.

Power roofing did a great job. His guys are hard workers . Roof nails in the pool and rain were my only problem. I taped a mechanics magnet on a pole to retrieve the nails. Not a big deal for me as I'm in construction . Brian was great litigating the roof damage with my Insurance company . Beautiful roof

The quote was reasonable and I was looking forward to using American Quality Roof Repair. The initial meeting with the owner (Bill) went ok when the initial quote was given. After that it was all downhill! What was supposed to be a "one day" job ended up taking nearly two weeks. They fired their main worker on my home who was unqualified and very unprofessional. He and his crew did a HORRIBLE job on the first attempt! (Bad cutting on both wood and metal. Huge gaps between wood. No caulking in places that needed it.) Absolutely no attention to detail. After talking to the owner Bill, he was stating that the job was good and he approved it. However, the job was unfinished and it was obvious. One of their employees (who they ended up firing) called me cursing me out demanding payment from me and was claiming he wasn't paid by the owner of company! When talking to Bill, he was extremely rude and unprofessional and acted completely out of the loop. They had to come back out and fix their mistakes. A second worker was also fired on the job causing extra delays and an extra pickup truck to be left on the front lawn of the home for several days after the job was complete. These are just a few of the many things that went wrong. I am an easy going guy and rarely complain about stuff like this, but it was hands down the worst company I have ever worked with. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. I hope this review saves you going through a similar experience that I did.

Excellent!!! David was great. Numerous projects were completed sooner than expected and on short notice (painting, replace ceiling drywall, roof repair, etc). He was willing and able to take on additional unexpected projects and exceeded expectations. I would definitely recommend Elite Remodeling as well as use their services again.

James and his crew hit all the marks. I had a small leak in my roof and James gave me a reasonable quote and then in 2 days sent his roof tech Miguel over to do the repair. Miguel located the problem in less than 10 minutes and he and his helper worked through the day to complete the repair. After the main job was completed they walked the roof and made some minor maintenance touch ups to ensure my roof was top notch. Professional and Courteous, everything was explained. This is the company I will go with if needed again.

It was a very nice experience working with this company, roof was done quickly and professionally and their pricing was excellent. The only thing I would recommend doing differently would be not starting the job on a Friday which meant we lost a day waiting on the inspection in the middle. Recommend very highly otherwise.

We had a good experience with a local roofer. We had Charlie who owns Southeast Waterproofing and Coating, LLC. install a new shingle roof on our home on Palmetto Ave. He shows up with a 6 man crew and stays on the job site. His wife Ginger takes care of the permitting and other paperwork. Reasonably priced too.

I contacted Salt Roofing for a re-roof estimate. Mr. Poe took measurements, showed me some samples and gave me a fair price for my job. He and his men were knowledgeable, worked quickly and efficiently, and removed all job debris from my property. I would highly recommend Salt Roofing for their professionalism and their price. Anderson Construction came out to my home to provide an on-site estimate for a minor repair to my metal roof the day within 24 hours of my request. He confirmed the source of a leak (base of an old dormer), and used some caulk I had on hand to do the repair. Then would not let me pay him for his time. While he was on the roof, he also did an inspection and identified a problem area I would not have spotted from the ground (took phone pics for me), and made some recommendations for general maintenance to extend the life of my now 20 year old beach-side roof. Knowledgeable, professional, responsive = highly recommended.

Sims Roofing has put several roofs on for us and we are always extremely happy. We had a flat roof completely come off during hurricane Irma and as busy as they were at that time they were very responsive and attentive to our needs. They are the only roofing company we will use.

I called the roofer for a leak; however the roofer took his time inspecting the whole roof and found many problem areas. I found the quote to be reasonable and hired the roofer right away. They were able to squeeze me in the next day right before this storm is going to hit. I'm pleased with their work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
