Yes, to be licensed by the State of Florida there are continuing education requirements. This is one reason to always used a state licensed counselor.

- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Two important items, a connection with your counselor and that your counselor is licensed by the State. Your relationship with your counselor is the basis on which your counseling will build. Questions to ask ... does the counselor person share my values and beliefs? Does he/she have life experiences that will be helpful to me? Can I talk with my counselor about aspects of my life I would tell anyone else? Is your counselor licensed by the State? You can go to your State website and verify that your counselor has met the requirements set by your state.
