This business has me ruined and spoiled for any kind of future work. I’m not going to be able to move outside of their service area and they can’t ever leave the business because they have set the bar so high. Jessica and her team arrived on time and exceeded my expectations on the paint job they did at my house. It looks so great and I can’t wait to move in and have people over. I would recommend them any time and I intend to have them back for landscaping in the near future.

I've engaged George @ GForce a number of times. He is a true jack of all trades. Recently left a rental and needed my paint retouched. He did a great job covering / repairing all the nail holes etc - walls looked like new. Works hard, gets it done right the first time, and cleans up.

Kevin was awesome. Originally hired him for fence repair. He not only repaired the fence, but put in light fixtures, fixed door hinges, and did a little touch up paint on the interior of the house. Great handy man!! Wonderful expression.

Steve is such an amazing worker! He worked hard, diligently, gave a fair pricing quote! He was able to help me pressure wash and paint my historic home in Plant City, FL. Start to finish it took about a week- there was A LOT of trim and woodwork involved- all with extreme humidity and rain at the drop of a hat. The house looks amazing and he was extremely kind and helpful through the entire process. He even helped me create a closet with some spare wood scraps. A true 5/5!!

I cannot say enough about this company! They showed up on time and made quick work of painting the exterior of my house. Their painting skills are SUPERB (no runs or overlapping paint anywhere) and even my husband (who used to paint houses) was impressed! Aurelia the manager gave us a good price & even did a walk thru afterwards to check the work & make sure that we were satisfied! I will definitely be using them again for future painting needs!

I am rehabbing a home for rent. I hired Sunny Painting to paint one room, remove the popcorn ceiling and fix an uneven drywall board on the wall. Charlie and his partner were so nice, professional and HONEST, I hired them to do the entire house! They removed the wallpaper in three rooms and all the popcorn ceilings in the house. 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, family room, great room with vaulted ceiling. All closets, pantry, kitchen ceiling, baseboard trim, all doors and door frames, fireplace framework with built in bookcase. They sprayed all the A/C vents in the house white instead of me spending money to replace them with new. He also replaced all the hardware on the doors with my new hardware at no charge. Charlie consulted with me on the colors in the house that look amazing! Convinced me to not tile the kitchen floor because the tile looked good, saving me $1,200 on my renovation budget. While I had multiple projects going in the house Charlie made sure that the jobs other workers did was done properly when I was not able to be at the property. He also told me one of the people I hired didn't seem to be on the up and up. Guess what? He wasn't! I trusted them with a key to come and go. My house looks so amazing thanks to this amazing duo. I went back to the house to work the day after they finished and as silly as this seems, I missed them being there. You will not regret hiring Sunny Painting for your next job. Professional, quality work and honest people. We already have a quote for the exterior painting for the second phase.

Claude just finished painting the interior of our entire home. We are extremely pleased. He was professional, timely and friendly. His rates were competitive. He pointed out issues and ask for our input as needed. At the end of each day he cleaned up and at the end of the project he left our home clean. I would recommend Claude to others. Unless we do it ourselves, when we are ready we will have Claude paint the exterior and the garage interior as well. I'm voting for Claude

The first time I had Brian do some work for me, it was to paint and repair my front porch. Some of the pillars were so rotten he had a hard time getting them out and since we had tile on the porch he was extremely careful not to break any. The porch looks beautiful. So I asked Brian to paint the inside of my house. I have vaulted ceilings and there was a lot to cover. Brain did a great job, and I received lots of compliments on how nice it looks. He has also done some pressure cleaning for me. Whatever Brian does, he does well, or he will come back and fix the problem!

I selected Degaetano's Painting from the five companies and three bids we received because their price was the lowest and they provided excellent references. Their employees were polite and professional at all times. They painted the exterior of our house and did a fantastic job! Our house looks like brand new. We fully intend to use them again to paint the interior in the near future. I would not hesitate to recommend Degaetano's Painting to anyone who is looking for a local privately owned painting company.

I hired mike and his crew to pain the inside of my fathers house while on my brief trip to Florida. After I saw the quality of their work and his business ethic, I hired them to paint the exterior, stain the garage, do the landscaping and pressure wash everything. I was beyond impressed with mike and his crew from the beginning and have nothing but the highest praise for them. They were all incredibly polite, friendly and hard working. They worked 3 full days in a row at my dad's place and went above and beyond what i expected. When it comes time to stain the concrete around the pool, I will only call Mike. He made a stressful and difficult week dealing with my father's affairs into a very easy and stress-free event with the quality of his work and his crew. This was by far the best experience I have ever had in hiring a contractor and would highly recommend Mike to anyone looking for the best work and professionalism.

Robert not only did a fantastic job, it was service with a smile all the way. Very friendly, very competent, very trustworthy. He tried to do the best job for the time he put in. This guy is a master of all trades. Can fix cars, fix anything in the house, paint, weld, fly planes (not kidding). I will definitely do business with Robert in the future and recommend him very highly.

Kevin and Dan arrived on time and completed the painting project as promised. There painting was good but because my house is stucco there are places that still need additional paint coverage which Kevin has offered to correct. There were a few incidence that kept me from rating them higher. Specifically, reinstalling gutter down spouts once finished, cleaning windows after a lite power wash, returning edging rock and edging back to it’s original location and a paint spill in the yard that has now required removing the grass and dirt beneath and reseeding.

They did an excellent job. Top of that, I really like that way he communicated and informed me in every step. I was away when he was painting my house, he took pics and sent me and gave me all the updates. Very reasonable price as well.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
