Gretchen kept the boys happy, cleaned their boxes and worked with me on relatively short notice. I look forward to working with her again in the near future. I especially loved that she sent me photos, as I am a nervous Nellie when I'm away. She also recommended a vet, which is much appreciated since I'm new in town.

We hired Conga's Pet Grooming mobile service and we are very happy with them. Our Husky got a salon treatment right in the comfort and safety of our driveway! The owners acquainted themselves with him and made sure he was comfortable and then proceeded to work hard giving him the royal treatment! They left him looking like a showdog! I am completely thrilled with this company and highly recommend them for their timeliness, professionalism, excellent service, and how well they treated our treasured fur baby!

Jose is the best! He was very in tune with my dog's body language and gave great advice on how to alter behaviors. Not only did he provide great training advice, but I appreciated his holistic view on dogs lifestyles in regards to food and exercise. I would 100% recommend him- my dog and I are grateful for his time and work!

Reginal did an excellent job! He responded to my request immediately and was here very soon after. The little terrier I'm pet sitting for managed to make a mess of himself and Reginal was able to clean him up exactly as the owner requested. I'm very happy with him and will be sure to hire him again for any of the dogs I pet sit. Thank you! ~Karen

I have known both Anna and Stephanie Christo for over 12 years. Even before they started Little Paws, I have first hand knowledge of their love and care for not only their animals, but others as well. On many occasions they have watched my three dogs while I have been out of town. My dogs received such good care with them that when I picked them up, I sensed they were reluctant to return home, which never happened when I picked them up after boarding at the Vet! I cannot say enough about the character of both Anna and Stephanie, only to add that South Florida is fortunate to have their pet sitting service located there! I have recently moved out of South Florida, but anyone who lives there and cares about their pets like I do should not hesitate to use their service. You will be glad you did!

I would highly recommend Paw Spa. I have a 112 pound Labrador who is approaching 9 years old. I would normally take him to be groomed (shaved down) at my vets office or Pet Smart.I always found that when I picked him up he was all stressed out and anxious. Due to his age and a recent medical diagnosis it was recommended by my vet not to have him groomed where the environment would cause any stress. I contacted Paw Spa and spoke with Ashley and explained my situation. I then made an appointment with Ashley to have her come to my home to groom my dog. Ashley was prompt, professional, very friendly and her price was very reasonable. Ashley and my dog became fast friends. She groomed my dog in a spare room of my home in a peaceful, familiar atmosphere that he felt so comfortable with. When my dog came out of the room wagging his tail, I said WOW what a difference!! Not only did he look SO AMAZING but no stress to him what so ever! Ashley had also left the room impeccably clean with the use of her equipment. I will definitely be calling Paw Spa again for an appointment to have my dog groomed in my home!!🐾 AWESOME!!!!!🐾

Katie has been working with me for a good 10 years now. She is amazing. The commitment, service, trust, and most of all the love and attention she bestows on my dogs is beyond words (had 3 when I first hired Dances with Dogs). Katie is part of my family. The best review is from the 4-legged ones themselves... Bijou goes goes crazy for the visits and simply adores Katie.... A few years ago while on a business trip, my ageing Lab had a heart attack and Katie went above and beyond by doing CPR and rushing him to the emergency vet. She gave me Jasper back. I will be forever grateful for her actions that saved him. And for everything she does... every day.... What more can a pet-parent ask for?

We love Judy and so does our Chihuahua puppy, Lola. Lola was acting aggressive at times - when being examined by two different vets. Judy suggested having Lola in her home for two to observe her over a long period of time and to help with house training. This was very positive for both Lola and us. Lola has made great progress with house training (only a few mistakes) and seem calmer, since her return from Judy's. I highly recommend Judy for pet sitting and for training

We've known JJ from taking our fur babies to our vet. For around 8 years. Our experiences have always been extremely positive. She is a professional and extremely loving and caring. We have complete trust in her experience as a vet technician to take care of our sick babies if we need to travel... the loving and caring comes naturally.... my babies adore her :-)

Cyndi did a great job caring for our cats while we were on vacation. She obviously loves animals, and not only fed the cats and cleaned their boxes, she spent extra time playing with them and giving them lots of love. She sent several texts with pictures to let us know they were doing well. She also alerted us that our senior kitty appeared to be jaundiced, which I'm not sure we would have noticed right away. A trip to the vet confirmed that he was having liver problems, and he is now on medication. I would highly recommend Cyndi as a sitter for your pets.

I moved to Miami last january with my beloved Shetland Sheepdog Mr. Bones, and after a couple of bad experiences with pets' resorts, I found Lauden Vergara, which was one of the best things that has happened to us. I hate to leave my dog when I travel, but sometimes is inevitable. Lauden made that much easier for me, sending me pictures of him "having fun" and even sleeping in her bed! She is so caring and thoughtful! And she does love dogs! He comes home happy and healthy!! She also makes every effort to make my life easier (pick up and delivery, takes to vet appointments, and even exercised our dog when he needed physiotherapy). She is 5 stars plus!!!!

Let me start by saying my fur-babies are my EVERYTHING. I do just as much research when choosing a vet, groomer, pet sitter, etc for my pets, as I would do for myself when choosing a doctor, hair stylist, etc. Not only am I putting my pets care in the hands of someone else, I am also trusting them with my house keys and having access to my belongings. I did my research and decided upon Pink Paws Pet Care and Ms. Mae. When Mae arrived during our initial meeting, I immediately felt comfortable with her and knew she would provide excellent care for my babies. Mae was extremely professional, asked tons of questions regarding my pets eating habits, play habits, etc. Asked who their veterinarian was, asked if there were any medications to be given etc. Needless to say, at the end of our initial meeting, I was more than impressed by Mae’s professionalism and her thoroughness in regards to the questions she asked. I was more than comfortable with leaving my babies in her care. While I was on vacation and Mae was caring for my babies, I received a very thorough email every day detailing the events that occurred during her visit, along with pictures of my babies. I have three kitties with very different personalities and behaviors. The things Mae would write to me in her report could only be written by someone who played and interacted with my babies. At the end of the day, I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation knowing my babies were receiving excellent care and were well taken care of by Mae. I highly recommend Pink Paw Pet Care and Mae and will certainly be calling Mae again. Not only did Mae provide great care to my pets, she also took care of my trash on pick up day, put my dirty dishes in the dishwasher, dusted my tv stand, and swept around my kitties litter box and feeding area. I cannot express in words how impressed I was with the service Mae provided. She went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. It was clear to me that Mae truly enjoys and loves what she does.

If you are looking for the best professional pet care provider in Broward and Dade Counties and surrounding areas for your precious ones…then the Pet Au Pair, LLC is whom you should trust your pets too. We have been using the Pet Au Pair, LLC for over a year now. We are delighted and our rescue Chihuahua Tex, (“Lil Man” to Auntie Gail) and our Finches (Dumbledore and Harry Potter) are happy clients! Gail comes to our home when we travel professionally, vacation, or just can’t get home in time to feed or walk them daily. She has a PetScort service too, that is so convenient when our little ones need to go to the vet or groomer. It saves us time from our busy schedules. Gail is dependable, trustworthy, loving, and gives us peace of mind knowing that our babies are in very capable hands in our home or out on the road when we are away. She leaves us notes; text messages with cute photos letting us know how our babies did each day. She is always a positive caring professional and we noticed the difference in our dog Tex! He has really come out of his shell, a happy boy when we get home. He is crazy about Gail. We highly recommend the Pet Au Pair if you are looking for a dog walker or pet sitter!

Lawrie has been a great help to us. Bella our German Shepard that is such a great dog but had been having some ongoing problems and we were anxious to get her some help. She was always itching and very uncomfortable. Lawrie helped us with changing her food and gave her a treatment bath with hopes that she would find some relief. Lawrie of course expressed she was not a vet but would do what she could to help. We are grateful for the help and support she has done for us. After some changes and going to the vet Bella is on the road to recovery. We highly recommend Lawrie!

I found Linda's profile online about a year ago now. She is great at what she does and it's easy to tell she loves it. I chose Linda from the many profiles on the website because she was the complete "package" (worked in a veterinary office at one point). I have two dogs (Charlie/yorkie & Josie/ havanese). They are my babies and wherever I go, they go. However, sometime I have to fly and I can't take both. I have never been able to go out of town and enjoy myself without worrying about my babies until now. Linda's place is like their second home. It's great social time for them. My yorkie isn't very social but Linda is very experienced and knows exactly what group of dogs he and my havanese (who is a lover to all) will mix great with. Linda always reassures me that I can call her for anything. Once my yorkie bit a toad and started to foam from the mouth. I immediately called her. She calmly walked me through the steps of properly rinsing his mouth and I rush him to the vet. If it wasn't for her I would have lost my dog. I could go on & on about how great she is but bottom line ..is if you love your dog and you need a sitter she's def the best!

Furtastic Pets Help is a independently owned company providing pet care services of pets of all shapes and sizes. The owner, Idalia Gracia, provide pet owners the peace of mind every owner is seeking when leaving their beloved pets in the care of others. She is attentive, organized, and animals just seem to gravitate towards her. I go to many conferences throughout the state of Florida and it is not feasible for me to travel with my 13-year old Pekingese who is very particular towards people. Idalia from Furtastic Pet Help provided me with services of dog walking, sitting, and caring for my pekingese's need (she feed her and provided fresh water) for the days that I was away. As I said earlier, my dog is very particular, she doesn't even like her groomer, her vet, or just anyone else interacting with her. Must be that proud, independent personality the breed is known for. However, she had no problem with Idalia. My dog was very comfortable around and didn't mind the interaction--which is a contributing factor for me selecting Furtastic Pet Help. The service was wonderful and everything was reasonably price. I would definitely recommend!

Thanks to Rosemary my cat Rosie is as healthy as she's ever been!! When I first adopted her, she would have a lot of blood in her stool and started going outside of her liter box. I took her to the vet and had spent over $400 for the them to tell me that they didn't know what was wrong. I've tried several different types of food and nothing seemed to work. I told Rosemary about it and she suggested I try out a meal prep plan for her. I tried it out and surprisingly enough it worked!!! Over a course of a few days, Rosie's stool was back to normal and there was no sign of blood! It was as if the meals I were making for her made her into a whole new cat! She's been more active and has shown a lot more affection than before. Thanks to Rosemary I now have a healthy loving cat that I was able to find the solution to her problem. I HIGHLY suggest going to Rosemary for any further problems I have with Rosie along with any other animals I own.

I own a 100 pound American Bulldog. I was out of town for a week and am happy to have someone I trust in my house. In addition she is a vet tech for many years and was able properly give my dog his meds. She communicates updates great every day. I would highly recommended her to my friends and family.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

        • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
        • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
        • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
        • What are your different walk routes?
        • When will you pick up and drop off?
        • How will we communicate?
        • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
        • What’s your cancellation policy?
        • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
        • How and how often do I pay you?
        • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

        What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

        What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

What vaccines do dogs need to be groomed?

It’s important to make sure your dog is up to date on its vaccines before taking it to a groomer. Vaccinations keep your dog and the other dogs that use the establishment healthy. Viruses can linger long after a dog is gone, so an unvaccinated dog can infect a number of other dogs days or even months after their visit. Find out about your dog groomer’s vaccination policies, and think carefully about receiving services from a company that does not require vaccinations. Here are the main vaccinations that are generally required for dog grooming:

        • Parvovirus: Parvo is a nasty virus that can kill dogs within 48-72 hours of infection. The virus is incredibly persistent and, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, is resistant to heat, cold, humidity and drying. It’s spread by dog-to-dog contact or contact with contaminated feces, environments (food and water bowls, collars and leashes, etc.,) or people.
        • Adenovirus 2: Dogs receive this vaccination to protect against canine infectious hepatitis. The vaccination can also helps prevent canine cough.
        • Canine distemper virus: Distemper has no known cure and can cause serious pain, illness, and even death, although recovery is possible with medical intervention.
        • Rabies: This disease attacks the central nervous system and — when untreated — will
        • lead to death. The CDC recommends euthanizing an unvaccinated animal that has been exposed to rabies, although six-month isolation followed by vaccination is also permissible.
        • Para-influenza: Canine para-influenza leads to kennel cough and an unhappy dog.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
