After speaking to several Web designers on the phone we decided to go with Rick and Tricia. What made them stand out from the others besides their work was the fact that Rick asked me questions about how I wanted my site and was very informative, something none of the other Web designers did. Throughout the whole process everything was explained in great detail and I have no complaints. I definitely recommend them and would work with them again. Excellent team! =)

My wife and I enjoyed having Donna and Denise give us a design consultation. They came out for an hour, gave us some tips on ways to improve our home's design and color recommendations. They are fun and professional, and we would certainly use them again.

My husband and I decided to hire Redefine Group as our close friend had a wonderful experience with them. Eslin came over to our home for a consultation and was very professional and attentive. Once the presentation was given we were able to make a few changes and add our own thought to the project. Eslin was able to take our vision and implement it to the design. She took the time to listen to our vision and made sure the space reflected our personality. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a professional Interior Designer. They're also the kindest and most personable people l have had the pleasure to work with. Most importantly very dependable, they do what they say they will and always show up on time.

She stabilized a design for a group that uses a logo. Kim had the job finished in a day and provided an extra logo with different colors that we could use, also. She always responded to my emails immediately. If I have need of this type of service again, I will call on Kim!

Sally Fretwell of Interior Coastal Designs, came highly recommended, and that she was! The Gulf Harbors Yacht Club was in dire need of interior renovation and decor updating to improve the ambiance of our Club. Sally was always timely and in a professional manner, available with great thoughts and ideas which were applied to enhance the Club’s interior decor. All comments by members have been positive and the overall results greatly appreciated.

There are no single words I could use to describe how satisfied I was with Sean Miller Designs. He was personable, patient, helpful, sincere and trustworthy. During the course of the project, Sean gave me excellent advice and his take on important issues. I couldn't have found a better friend and advocate than Sean. I recommend him very highly to any one out there including those like me, who was a little lost. Thanks again, Sean. You have a bright future ahead of you.

Let me just start by saying that Cassandra is THE BEST and a pleasure to work with! I hired her to help me pull together the look of my apartment; I already had many of the pieces and accessories, but just needed help figuring out what goes where and what new pieces to buy to complete the space. Cassandra did an amazing job, coming in under-budget, and the place looks great! And, she is a wizard at hanging gallery walls! I will definitely hire her again when I'm ready to finish up the remaining rooms. Thanks Cassandra!

Many thanks to Cara Mayes of Grey House Interiors for the superlative job she did guiding me through the recent renovation and redecorating of my 2-story St Petersburg home. I couldn't be more pleased with how she beautifully coordinated everything from flooring selections to finishes, furnishings, and the final accessories. I'm very grateful for her attentiveness to the particular needs and preferences of our family. She was especially creative in re- working several favorite pieces of my existing furniture to fit in with the overall updated look. Cara was delightful to work with. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and sense of style made the whole project exciting to implement. I highly recommend Grey House Interiors to anyone looking for expert and imaginative interior design services.

Will give another review after completion of the design but so far I am very happy and highly recommend Jentry for small and big projects!

We commissioned Trish Kennedy to paint a series of fantasy treehouses in a hallway of our children's clinic. She did a great job and the kids absolutely love it. She also helped us revamp the whole place - new paint colors, furnishings, art, and flooring. Everyone here is very happy with her excellent work.

We have a small T-shirt e-commerce business (funkyawesomestuff.com) and Jim, Daryin and Alex helped us get our site online, even though we were on a tight budget. Instead of selling us a full-blown site like others wanted to do, they coached us through setting up Shopify and getting our product out there first. We plan to use them for marketing and have them do a custom site once we get more sales in. They are always quick to answer our calls.

Bobbie Brantley took raw space and designed a law office that was welcoming, unique, functional and professional. She wove the nature of our practice and my and my partner's personalities into each phase of the office. She was there from start to finish. From design, flooring to wall coverings her choices were tasteful. The build out was with in the landlord allowance. She recommended the furniture and furnishing for the offices. She had a custom oak conference table built for the library. The staff offices were practical and functional. Our staff was pleased with their space. Our clients appreciated the environment and felt at ease. All who came in were impressed with our offices. Ms. Brantley has permission to post photographs of the office.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

    • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
    • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
    • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.
