FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The initial session is 2 - 3 hours. There will be some information gathering, a short discussion about how dogs learn and communicate and how you will utilize what you learn to start working with your dog, and then we will get to work addressing your issues. This is customized training. Additional sessions are scheduled according to your pace, progress and needs. I don't just schedule routine visits whether you are ready for them or not. Every client is different and the program is personalized around you and your dog.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified at the Master level with Bark Busters. Bark Busters also provides annual continuing education for all trainers. I am also certified by the Certification Council of Pet Dog Trainers (CPDT-KA) and must take continuing education courses each year to maintain that certification. I also am certified to work with those who have received a citation from the county for dog-related issues.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always trained my own dogs and helped friends with theirs. I had 25 years of corporate experience, much of that in the training field, so I was very comfortable training people. Dog training was the perfect combination of what I love to do, and what I had a lot of experience doing, as much of this IS training the people too.
