We hired Diversified to remove the old ceramic floor tiles in our home and replace them with new modern tiles. We are so pleased we chose them. The entire team took the time to help us make the best decision. The tile Installers are just as great. They work as a team and communicate with you about all areas of the project. We also hired them to remove our old carpet and replace it with laminate flooring. The job was done perfect and at a fair price. I would recommend Diversified Flooring to anyone. Great team. Thanks for all the hard work Diversified Flooring.

I hired Eric to install backsplash in my kitchen. He sent Carlos for the job. I'll like to separate the review in 2 aspects; 1st, professionalism and work ethics of Eric and Carlos- I must say Carlos is the MOST ethical person I've every worked with! Forget about asking for downpayment, he din't ask for the money even on 3rd day of the work! Never complained about ANYTHING! Such a soft spoken gentleman Carlos is. Same time Eric was very prompt with the communication, and never asked about downpayment or mode of payment. I'll give them 1 extra star for that! Now, the 2nd part of the review is for craftsmanship. May be the tile I had was a little delicate or may be Carlos din't have THAT much expertise to deal with high quality backsplash tiles. Anyways, his work is pretty much mediocre. Ages are not finished, and I had to take the grout off the tile by myself. 2.5 stars for quality of the work. Overall, I'll like to work with him once again. May be he'll improve his attention to detail this time. I highly recommend him, particularly for the peace of mind to deal with him!

Mark was very prompt on all occasions. He quoted me a great price to do the backsplash in my kitchen. He was extremely thorough and clean while working and did an excellent job. I was quoted anywhere from 50 to 90% more by other people and I doubt that they could have done as good a job as he did

I hired Steve to paint my kitchen cabinets. His prices were very fair compared to other estimates I had in the past. He showed up exactly when he said he would and he was more than flexible with my somewhat hectic schedule the week he did the work. The cabinets turned out far better than I ever imagined they would. They look brand new and my kitchen looks completely updated. I even had a friend ask if I had all new cabinets installed. That's how great his work is! He cleaned up everything and finished ahead of schedule which made it so easy for me. He did such great work, I had him quote me on another interior painting project and exterior painting for the future. I'm very pleased.

Tyler did an amazing job at installing not only a new light fixture but also at doing backsplash in the kitchen. He worked diligently, was on time, made sure to clean up, and was a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be utilizing his other skillsets for various other home projects in the future. Most importantly, he gave a military discount which is much appreciated.

Nelson contacted me within MINUTES of my post on Thumbtack and provided me an estimate the very next day. He started work immediately following the weekend. We wanted to overhaul the look of our master bathroom and Nelson completed our vision to the finest detail. - He stuck to the remodel timeline he provided in the estimate. - Arrived on-site, on-time, everyday. - Was very communicative in terms of materials needed, design ideas and installation. - Kept a clean work-space and was respectful to our home. He made the process very easy and did so in a very professional manner. More importantly he wanted to ensure his work was PERFECT! Focusing on all details, major or minor and was able to tackle any hurdles that arrived during the remodel. Hiring Nelson was GREAT for us because we have hectic schedules but he was able to accommodate. He is very honest, knowledgeable and FAIRLY PRICED! He even took the time out to help us install appliances in our kitchen that wasn't even apart of the original estimate. I would DEFINITELY recommend him to anyone needing work done on their home, no matter the project...you wont be disappointed! I can 100% assure you we will be utilizing him again! Finally, on a personal note, he is just a great guy. Very personable, always smiling, never has anything negative to say and wants the best for his clients. Couldn't be more happier with the experience and its because of his punctuality, demeanor and enthusiasm....he also speaks Spanish! Hire Nelson, you wont regret it!

I posted on Thumbtack to find someone to remove the wallpaper in my kitchen and also to texture and paint the walls. C & D responded immediately and showed up the very next day to give us a quote. I hired them, they were able to start the job right away and they did an EXCELLENT job. I have since hired Chad and Daniel for two other jobs (reinstalling our disposer after we got a new sink and then to tear out a wall to install support beams over our fireplace to install our new TV; they also repaired the drywall and repainted the wall). I cannot recommend C & D highly enough...they showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves and did everything they said they would do--- they even fixed a couple of little things that they noticed after they got here. C & D respond immediately when I text or call them with questions and/or concerns.

Emmanuel installed a new kitchen faucet for me. The faucet I purchased didn't fit. He went to lowes, got the necessary fittings, and completed the installation. The price was very fair, he does a great job, and is a real nice guy. Highly recommended!

Brian and his team were able to remodel my home by replacing old carpet and tile with handscrapped laminate flooring. My home is now my sanctuary. Brian and his team were very professional and efficient in replacing my floors and didn't even charge me for removing the carpet! My floors look like engineered wood and they were half the price! Brian's price was very affordable and reasonable. I am looking forward to working with Renovate Tampa Bay again to remodel my kitchen!

We had them finish the installation of some interior doors, paint trim around doors, and paint family room, nook and kitchen area. They did a great job and cleaned up afterward. I plan to use them for other projects.

The people from Floor Coverings International - North Tampa were fantastic in selecting the right floor for my new fudge kitchen as well as helping with some repairs after we had did make some plumbing changes. They were consummate professionals who took an ownership in the project they weren't just doing it for the money. I felt like they genuinely cared for the success of my business overall not just for installing a good floor.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
