- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It depends on the event. My standard rate is $125 & goes up from there based on the needs of the client & the ocassion. Weddings are much more involved, therefore a little more expensive (ranging between $175 & $225) based on what clients needs/requested look. If there are bridesmaids, fees range from $125 to $175, again, depending on the requested look. The more glam the look, the more time & product it takes, therefore the more it costs. Occasionally Brides have to be informed on the work that goes into bridal makeup (that explains my pricing). Special makeup MUST be used for several reasons. 1. It MUST last all day. 2. The pictures must be flawless (which is why I use hi definition foundation that’s specifically formulated for photography. 3. It must feel weightless on your skin. High definition makeup must be used for brides which is why the pricing can be a little higher than the “average makeover”. Also bridal makeup is extremely detailed. Color correcting (if needed, which most women need), Foundation, highlight/contour eyeshadow blush cheek highlight lip liner, lipstick, cheekbone highlight bronzer etc. a lot of products are used which takes time.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Ask tons of questions!! After being hired I always ask the client to send me a recent picture of themselves. This gives me an idea of their facial features, bone structure, shape, etc. I also make sure to have a phone conversation to answer any questions they may have and explain the products I use and why I use those products. Even if it's just a date night makeup client I am in constant communication with them up until the day before!!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I take classes with some of the industries top MUA's as well seminars with some of the leading industry MUA’s. I also attended Cosmetology school, however as times change so does makeup techniques, so for the most part I am self taught (when it comes to new techniques). Some things can be taught, some you have to practice. I've read every beauty book written by IMAN, Bobbi Brown, Sam Fine, AJ Crimson, Kevin Acquion, Sir John, just to name a few as well as taken their master makeup classes.
