Communication was quick and efficient via email and phone calls a few days prior. They arrived on time and did quality work. We had a soft wash of our concrete tile roof and a cleaning/pressure wash of the exterior. When work was completed, I was taken around to discuss observations of the roof and home exterior. I asked for a touch up of the tile roof on a small area that appeared to have been missed (after all equipment had been loaded back on truck) and without hesitation, he took care of it immediately. The owner was very professional, knowledgeable and even gave a military discount! I'm very satisfied with the job they did and would highly recommend Bay Bright.

I needed part of a chain link fence removed and replaced. George did the ordering and pick up and also got the bag I needed to discard the fencing. He was prompt and did a wonderful job. He also helped me with a hole I needed fixed on the roof. He went above and beyond helping me. I have a couple more things that I will be calling him for. George is your man if you need help!

I had him quote me for the roof and the drywall. There was a lot of just going to keep miscommunication about the roof and the interior but he fixed it. Pricing was very on point. They did paint and interior stain area, the stain came through and they had to repaint it. But over all the work was very good and they were quick.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience working with Steve. He was on the job within a day of my request and spent at least seven hours meticulously cleaning every square inch of my tile roof and home exterior. When he was done, the 50 year-old roof was bright white and looked good as new. He was very knowledgeable and offered me many good tips about prolonging the life of the roof. To boot, Steve is a very personable guy and I found him delightful to work with. Did I mention that his price was far below the next highest bidder? I would not hesitate to recommend Steve to anyone who might need his services.

I was contacted almost immediately after my inquiry on Thumbtack. Kevin came out the next day and emailed quote. I called and left message for him, and he called back within the hour and answered all my questions clearly and concisely, no games. I had received quotes from 4 other roofers and chose Bay to Bay for their no-nonsense, professional, prompt service and communication. The work was scheduled and completed within 3 business days of scheduling. It rained right after the repair was complete, and it was a great test--no more leaking! Other companies wanted to either repair the whole roof, or remove large chunks and replace (flat roof). I was happy with Kevin's explanation that the leak was only in the transition with the shingled roof. The roof was just 10 years old, and this seemed most appropriate. Thanks for great, honest service!

I posted on Thumbtack to find someone to remove the wallpaper in my kitchen and also to texture and paint the walls. C & D responded immediately and showed up the very next day to give us a quote. I hired them, they were able to start the job right away and they did an EXCELLENT job. I have since hired Chad and Daniel for two other jobs (reinstalling our disposer after we got a new sink and then to tear out a wall to install support beams over our fireplace to install our new TV; they also repaired the drywall and repainted the wall). I cannot recommend C & D highly enough...they showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves and did everything they said they would do--- they even fixed a couple of little things that they noticed after they got here. C & D respond immediately when I text or call them with questions and/or concerns.

First off Mark was very accommodating for my schedule we could not find a good time to meet so he offered to come Saturday morning and was there right on time. He did not have any issue baby stepping me through the process and was happy to answer all of my questions and we walked the roof together. I pointed out areas of concern and he pointed his out as well. I felt very confident that Mark and his crew would take care of my needs and put on a safe a secure roof to last my family many years to come. On Roof Demo day Mark and his crew showed up again on time 8am which I loved. His crew foreman was very professional and he never seemed bugged or annoyed by the many times I got on the roof to take pictures or to see what was going on. Also note I have an attic that you cannot access from the inside of home and while they had my roof open in the problem areas the let me get on the roof and replace all the bad insulation which I was grateful for. It took them 4 days to finish my roof but that was not due to lack of effort it was due to the tremendous issues that we had to uncover with my roof which for a 1st time home owner like me had me worried and scared but Mark's guys reassured me that it was mostly normal stuff and the good news is that it can all be fixed:) Our roof looks so amazing its unbelievable my wife was so happy with the out come and so am I. So many neighbors have already been asking us if we are happy with his work and that the roof looks amazing. To all new people looking for a new roof my wife and I had 5 quotes and Bayside fell in the middle when it came to the $ but to be honest with his crews work quality and professionalism he should have charged me more. As long as we stay within Bayside's work area we will use him on our new homes roofs for life. I have already started recommending him. We had a soft rain 2 days after the roof and I did not see any issues and no standing water on the roof where before they replaced my roof I had water sitting for weeks. Also HUGE plus about Bayside is they give you a free Wind MIT to send to your insurance company which other roofers wanted to charge for and that saved my wife and I over $300 a year off the insurance bill. You will not be disappointed licensed insured company who does not sub-contractor his roofers so he is tied to his work and the quality shows. Thank you, S Parker

These guys are great. Rodney came when he said he would, then gave me a good quote and all the details so there wouldn't be any surprises as they did the work. He and Chuck showed up when expected and got right to work. The first job was installing tile in my home office and when they were done it looked so good that we decided to hire them to do the hall and living room. This was a big enough job for Chuck to have a helper/trainee, and I overheard Chuck explaining to his helper how to prep the floor and lay the tile, and I was impressed by his level of care and knowledge of his job. Not only showing concern for how it would look today, but how it would stand up over time. Thanks team, and let me know if you ever need a personal reference.

Overall, a great company to work with! Work was completed for an insurance claim after Hurricane Irma. Installers took pictures of any unseen damage before replacing, and keep them on file should the insurance company have a question. First days' cleanup was a little light, but the final cleanup was complete - no "missed" roofing nails! Neighbor used a different company (both houses were contracted the same week), but his took 3 weeks longer to schedule & complete and the installation has been red-tagged twice by the local Building Inspectors. I would not hesitate to use Sun Coast Roofing in the future, should "Mother Nature" see fit to stop by, again!

Mr Rayl answered within 30 min, he sent his son & another guy out to inspect. Very professional young men. They explained in complete detail along with pictures, within a little over an hour had a quote. Coming back today to complete the job. If we need a roofer again they will be the one we use, actually same day a neighbor across canal needed help also, went immediately over, getting their job as well. Plus they fixed enough to get us by incase of more rain. Excellent service..

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
