About
I work very hard at taking care of the children I watch. I can actually say that I LOVE my job and LOVE what I do! I am very blessed to have these children in my life! I love working with the children and knowing that I am making a positive impact on a young life in some small way. The relationships with the children and families that I have bonded with are amazing. It feels more like getting paid to be a family whild having fun doing silly dances, dress-up days, playground time, and field trips. Knowing you are teaching both school readiness skills as well as life and social skills to young minds is truly a gift few people recognize or utilize.

My daughter has been attending Miss Jennifer's for almost two years now. She loves it. Jennifer is wonderful. She is caring and nurturing and works with the kids on different skills from potty training to learning numbers to arts and crafts. She always goes above and beyond at holidays from preparing goodie bags to having activities for the children during the day. She frequently takes pictures of the children so you can see what the kids have done as well. Her home is always immaculate and she has many toys for the children to play with both in her home and in the backyard. She cooks meals and my daughter has tried many new foods with her encouragement. I always feel confident leaving my daughter with her; I know my daughter will be safe, happy, and well taken care of when I am away.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I take many classes(online and in classroom) each and every year to keep myself up to date on the latest developments in the childcare field. I learn something new everytime I take a training class. I also am up to date on CPR and first aid!

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I decided to become a childcare provider after I had horrible childcare experiences. At the time, I had 3 small children. I was working full time as a nurse. I had a very difficult time finding a provider, yet, one that met my expectations. The last straw came when I found out the provider hit my one year old son on the head. That day, I quit my job as a nurse, and took the proper training to become a family childcare provider......the BEST choice for me and my family!!!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I nurture, teach, and care for children who have not yet entered kindergarten. I also supervise older children before and after school. I play an important role in children's development by caring for them when their parents are at work or are away for other reasons or when the parents place their children in care to help them socialize with children their age. In addition to attending to children's health, safety, and nutrition, I organize activities and implement curricula that stimulate children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth. I help children explore individual interests, develop talents and independence, build self-esteem, learn how to get along with others, and prepare them for more formal schooling.
