Pros: Good quality. Very clear about process. Good value compared to other quotes. Saw the job through quickly. Corrected mistakes without push back. Cons: Still had to touch up a few places after job was complete. Hard time relaying instructions through owner to painters.

What can I say about Putnam Painting? Well, They are very professional. They did an outstanding job on my home. As he was pressure washing he noticed there were huge chunks of paint peeling all around the house. The last painter didn't do a good job with the sealant. Putnam painting took care of us even though it was more work for them, any other painter would have just painted over it. Would definitely do business with you again. Thank you Putnam Painting for Doing an outstanding job and taking care of us.

I can not speak highly enough about the work done by C.G. Paint. Not only were they openly communicative throughout the entire process, from quote to completion of work, they were on time every single day (which was only two - they painted the entire home in two days!), fixed all repairs (holes in wall, stucco ceiling falling), and collected the paint for me (included in price). The value they pack in to each dollar you pay is well worth their price tag (which is so reasonable, I was really happy to find them). If you're looking for painters who take pride and care in their work, this is the company to go with. From someone who is moving in to their first home and already affording mountains of bills in remodeling costs - finding this high quality of work for such reasonable pricing was an absolute blessing and life-saver. I will most certainly be recommending to those I know.

I didn't hire him since I measured my curtains wrong but he had the best price for installing a curtain rod and painting furniture.

Promptness and professionalism were the reason my husband and I selected Arijatos, Inc. The work we needed completed was knockdown ceiling, drywall repair, floor board replacement and painting of our living room, dining area and family room. Mr. Arijatos was timely competitive and complete with a free quote after viewing the premises. The workers were professional and thorough and the finished work was the icing on the cake . It far exceeded my vision and expectations. We are looking forward to having Arijatos Inc. remodel our kitchen.

JJQ Services painted my entire interior except bedrooms. From the very beginning to the very end it was a pleasure working with Pierre and Crew. Communication - A+ Quality - A+ Value A+. I fully intend on recommending them to anyone that asks. When they were here working, you heard nothing but work being done - music to my ears. No nonsense, no change orders, no games - we agreed on a scope/price and they delivered. For what it's worth, I met with four painters and I could tell right away these guys were the right choice. I have been in the construction industry for over 15 years working with and hiring subs, you can spot good ones after years of practice.

Juan is an excellent painter and professional. Very punctual, knowledgeable, experienced, and just a pleasure to work with. Did an amazing job painting my whole townhouse in 2 and 1/2 days. Even gave me tips on how to handle other projects I have pending (who to hire, what to ask for, etc). I am very glad I chose him and would definitely recommend to my friends. If you are looking for an interior or exterior painter, look no further.

I accidently deactivated my thumbtack account, called customer service, reactivated it, changed my password and finally got back to this review page all to leave this review – that is how impressed we are with Project Painting and specifically Patricio. That account fiasco alone is enough for most people to get how happy we are with their service, but I will go into a bit more detail just to drive my point home. We contacted a few painters for a quick deadline project for our mother-in-law’s house that was soon to close. We had a quote, a plan, and a date with Project Painting in under 2 hours, and they were onsite to her place in Melbourne within the week. Her house is not huge, but they had it taped, small holes patched, and painted in less than a day – including trim, walls, doors, and closets. The quote we received included paint, but our mother-in-law picked a paint type that Project Painters would have needed to change the price for, but Patricio told us that the paint store he normally uses was having a sell for non-business customers. Ultimately, we saved 40% on the paint due to the sell, and we were able to work with Patricio to adjust the quote to account for us purchasing the paint. The team was on time for the day of the painting. They were nice, professional, quick, and went out of their way to please what can only be described as a “picky” mother-in-law. I can tell you if I was in their shoes, I would have been hard pressed to be as nice and accommodating as they were, and we will certainly be recommending them to anyone we know needs a painter. Bottom line, they were on-time, at budget, professional, extremely thorough, well-priced, accurately estimated their time to completion, and just a perfect experience. But don’t take my word for it, you can read any of their reviews and see we are not a special case – they are just a great company.

Chris and his team did a wonderful job on refinishing our kitchen cabinets and staining the hand rails on our stairs. We had hired amateurs to paint our cabinets the first time around and it really showed. Other painters were unwilling to take on the project and recommended that I just get new cabinets, but Chris meticulously removed the old paint, sanded and applied several coats to get them looking like new! They look wonderful and we are very happy. These guys were very knowledgeable, professional and courteous, and charged very fairly for the work they did.

These folks are super nice in addition to be exceptional painters. They responded immediately and were able to come over and give me a quote and then do the painting at times that were convenient for me. I can’t wait to find something else to paint so that I can hire them again.

Mr. Naylor from Personal Touch Contracting LLC did a wonderful job on our renovation. He was responsive, timely, and easy to work with. His employees were professional and their work was very well done. We are very pleased with the painting, plumbing, tile work, electrical and flooring that Mr. Naylor's team did at our unit. I would definitely recommend his company.

Rafael was by far the best painter I’ve used. He was prompt and took pride in his work. He took the time to prep the job so that the finished product came out perfect. I will be using him for all of my construction projects from now on.

Unfortunately Thumbtack would not allow me to give 10 stars so I had to settle for the the 5 allowed lol. What can I say about Luis and Denise at D’Vine Painting. From the very beginning they showed true professionalism by showing up on time (a little early which was fine by me) and going over everything that was included in their estimate. They walked my fiancé and I through the pros and cons of our color choices, the products they use and how long the job would take. Though they gave us options on color choices, they never pressured us to make a discussion based on their preferences. When it came time to for the work begin Luis showed up everyday until the job was complete. Even though there were a few rainy days he and his partner showed up rain or shine and did what they could before the rain rolled in. Luis went above and beyond by pointing out some issues he discovered after pressure washing. He could have easily covered them up and went on his way. Instead he showed me the problem and offered to make the repairs at a very reasonable price before continuing. When the job was fished we did a punch walk to make sure I was satisfied, which I was. There was a small amount of paint left over which he left with me for future touch ups. They did such a good job on the exterior, when it’s time to paint the interior they will be my painters of choice. In closing if you are looking for a painter who is professional, reasonably priced, doesn’t cut corners and gives you a great finished product, hire D’Vine Painting. You won’t regret it.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
