When I came to Dave Lockwood for guitar lessons, I was struggling in kind of a self-taught rut. I could play chords for a lot of songs, but I didn't know the theory or anything you would call "advanced". Dave's methods show you how to understand the fretboard and why certain notes and chords go together. He is really helping me become a complete player. Mostly though, Dave is a very patient teacher. He doesn't mind going over the same material with you until you understand it and he'll take different approaches until you get it. I really appreciate this about his teaching methods.
Benjamin is a great teacher and a well-rounded musician. Starting out as a complete beginner with the guitar, he gave me lots of good tips and was great at explaining things in a way I could digest. I'm looking forward to taking more lessons with him as we continue to progress my playing skills.
Taking violin lessons (and now viola) with Paige. It's been a much better experience for me than my first time trying to learn violin. I appreciate that she's willing to adapt her lessons to my own goals and also select music that is actually pleasing to listen to even for an absolute beginner. As some other reviews mentioned, she's also very quick to reply to any messages.
Excellent first lesson. As an adult learning guitar, Eric's was a more holistic approach that got right into a meaningful lesson activity directly applied to the genre of music of interest to me.
I have been taking lessons from Ryan for about 10 months now and each week I see myself growing and sharpening my skill. I took guitar lessons when I was a teenager, but I wanted to get back at it and take my talents to the next level. We restarted my training and went from the building blocks of scales to the formation of modes. Now I am almost to a point where I can play any scale and mode horizontally and vertically up the neck of the guitar. He's a brilliant instructor who finds the best method of teaching for each student. Looking forward to taking more lessons with him. We even do Skype lessons since I moved out of the Alpharetta/Johns Creek area! Happy Shredding! -Andrew Briggs
I had been playing guitar for 40 years and had acheived complete mediocrity when I met Parker through a friend. After six months of lessons, I learned more than I had in all the time I played. He he really helped me open the fretboard and exposed me to both practical theory and some easy shortcuts. Best of all, he is a patient teacher and a cool cat. I always loved playing guitar, but I am having more fun than ever after my lessons with Parker. If you are thinking of taking your playing to the next level, you can do no better than Parker.
It is a privilege and an honor to be a Tara Simon Studios student. Tara's obvious performance talent is matched by her gift as a teacher. I started with Tara 3 years ago as an absolute beginner piano student, with nary a note of music capability explored, much less an iota of music theory knowledge. Tara was as eager and willing to take my humble starting place, delighting in my baby steps of progress, which were likely even slower for an adult student! Tara's insistence on accuracy/ tempo/attitude/professionalism prevailed, regardless of my level of piano skill. The studio policies and processes are as impeccable as the music training; Tara and her staff are on time and devoted to their students. The performance showcases are an outstanding aspect of TSS teaching, where the student learns from the stage as well as at lesson time. I am happy to say that there are numerous songs from several favorite composers that I can play, thanks to Tara and TSS. For anyone considering lessons from TSS, hurry! It is a gift for you.
What a great experience my son has had since starting guitar lessons at Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music. The staff could not be nicer or more professional. The teachers are all highly experienced, and you can just tell that they love what they do. They make the children, and the parents, feel like family. I wouldn't take my child any place else, and I would highly recommend this music school to anyone - great place!
Gene is a fantastic guitar teacher. I have taken a few years of lessons from him for both electric guitar and bass guitar. He really knows his stuff. Not only will he teach you songs, but the theory necessary to truly be a guitarist. It really helps to understand what I'm playing and not just memorizing a song. Great teacher.
Chris is a one of a kind guitar instructor. He is personable and dedicated to teaching music. I have learned more from him in a short amount of time than I have from previous instructors. He understands that each individual learns differently and he creates a program for every student. Working/Playing music with him has given me more motivation to play more at home (I work 50+ hours a week) than any other instructor has ever given me. I would highly recommend Mr.Silver and I am looking forward to continuing my lessons with him.
Our son started taking guitar lessons from "Mr. Scott" about a year and a half ago, and we have been amazed at how well it has gone so far. Scott was able to make a connection with our son very early on. He makes the lessons interesting and fun because he teaches by using a number of different techniques and uses a variety of musical styles. He's also appropriately challenging. He got my son and another student to play a song together at their recital, which involved each student getting to improvise lead guitar lines. I thihnk our son's self-esteem has been enhanced by what Scott has accomplished with him.
Arafat is an excellent guitar instructor. I started lessons just over a year ago and now jamming here and there with local bands. He encourages you to be confident, practice and dream big!
My daughter really enjoys taking piano lessons with Mateo. She is really interested in learning the piano and I believe most of that has to do with Mateo's encouragement and engagement level during the lessons. Mateo seems to really care about his students and according to my daughter, he is "really funny".
Michael Spring is a great guitar teacher. My son greatly enjoys his guitar lessons and is learning so much.
Max is an amazing teacher that is a treasure-trove of work tunes and folk songs that would otherwise go unsung and forgotten. He is very thoughtful about songs and exercises to suggest I try during the week between our lessons. He is patient with the beginner student and thinks of ways to adjust lessons/songs to meet the student wherever s/he is at. His passion for music is so authentic and comes through. It is a privilege to be one of his students and I would highly recommend him to others!
I took 4 lessons with Kris before moving out of town, and I wish I could have taken him with me! I like that now I can pick up a guitar and feel comfortable enough to strum a little song, bc before I started I didn't even know how to hold the guitar right. Definitely a great teacher for beginners... i'd take more lessons if I lived closer!
Darian teaches guitar lessons to my Daughter. He was very assertive in finding her style both for learning and performing. He is a great teacher, specially for new beginners.
Mike and his staff of music educators are some of the best! Not only are they knowledgeable.. but they are also understanding of schedule complications and work to make up any lost time.

Hi! I am currently a college senior offering private guitar lessons. I have been playing and studying guitar consistently for 10 years. Also, I have an abundance experience in recording and performing. I am flexible with lesson times throughout the week. The length of each lesson is negotiable, but I would prefer each lesson to last from 30 minutes to an hour. Also, prices are negotiable, but the standard rate is $25 for 30 minutes. My lesson style is interactive; meaning that in the first lesson, I will present the student with some basic fundamental exercises and then I find out what the student wants to learn. The student will choose a song that they enjoy and would be reasonable for them to learn within roughly 1-5 sessions. On the second lesson, we will begin by reviewing the student's progress with their basic exercises and then move on to learning the song of their choice. Once the student has learned the song of their choice, they will once again be presented with a new set of exercises to practice and get to chose a new song to learn. Requirements: 1. That the student has their own instrument 2. That the student purchases a blank tablature booklet (this can typically be found at any music store that sells guitars for a reasonable price) 3. Following the first session, payment needs to be made upon arrival. 4. I only teach beginners who are 20 years of age and under.
I am a seasoned live/session guitarist with 20 years of experience. I can teach anything, from acoustic to electric lead and beginner to advanced. I customized to each client, as per need.
