"Robin is not just an excellent massage therapist, she is more of a clinician who overseas your areas of concern and addresses the problem at the root. She has worked with me over the past few weeks, coming to my home on time with a great attitude, ready to help! You cannot help but feel through her work that she is passionate and well educated in her craft. My main issue was post-op swelling following surgery. She came up with a plan to start first with a lymphatic massage, evolving to a soft tissue massage to work on areas that are more prone to hardness as the fascia heals. This has been a tremendous help to my post op. recovery. I would highly recommend Robin's services to any patients that are looking for additional assistance to help further their healing journey."

"Dr. Andino is truly EXCEPTIONAL! I've had many massages in the past, but none compares (or even comes close)! At Tired Soles, you not only get the BEST massage (full body & foot) in Atlanta; but you get it from a Doctor of Chiropractic or one of his certified Massage Therapists in a very tranquil and relaxing setting for a very affordable price. After my first visit to Tired Soles, I was "hooked." I've purchased one of their very inexpensive membership packages; and look forward to my weekly visits. I recommend Tired Soles to every and anyBODY!!! Clare G."

"I was very impressed with Alicia. She took ample time before our session to listen and understand my unique history. She offered new insight into my five-year struggle with neck/shoulder/back/arm pain. Alicia is exceedingly knowledgeable in her field. She clearly mapped out a strategy before my massage. I have seen nine different massage therapists in the past five years, some okay, and some excellent. I thought I had "seen" it all in terms of technique. All of these therapists, while very good at their job, seemed to have a standard "set" of moves that were the same every visit, no matter my symptoms. Overall, they had the same basic approach - massage the heck out of that sore muscle. I was blown away when Alicia used techniques that were entirely new to me. It was like she knew a whole new way to access and treat these problem areas. I felt like I was witnessing a master at work. Even more surprising was how gentle the massage was. Most of the massages I get to treat my pain are generally uncomfortable, and some downright painful, leaving me with bruises afterwards. Alicia was so gentle I was actually able to relax. Yet the following day I was still sore, so I knew some serious work had in fact been accomplished. I am excited to continue my recovery process in Alicia's capable hands."

"Greg is by far one of the best massage therapists in the Atlanta area. His knowledge of the body and how it moves is one of the keys to his approach to massage. If you're looking for deep or therapeutic work, do yourself a favor and book a session with Greg. You'll be so glad you did."

"Honestly, the only way to describe my session with Ms. Love would be......phenomenal! It was my first time experiencing the Reiki therapy, and she walked me through it all and made me feel so relaxed. I will most definitely be seeing her again soon and sharing my experience with others! her energy is amazing and the levels of energy you reach from a session breath taking. I look forward to this being a continuous thing! "

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
